Yet another NDS R4 problem....

Ok, before anyone asks me to have a read at the other threads, I have..I just can't seem to find anything that works.

I know, your probably all sick of reading about this subject and telling people..life myself off but I hope someone would be kind enough to humour me??)

My problem is ofcourse this R4 black screen loading page.

Up until about 5 minutes ago I was 80% certain that my r4 was an original.

I brought it about 3 years ago from one of those market store places.

Came in a orignal box that people have been uploading it and the card does indeed look original. As the usual writing on it - R4 Upgrade Revolution for DS (NDSL/NDS)

The thing that now as me thinking that it could indeed be a fake is that it works with a sandisk 4gb microSDHC aswell as the card that came with it which is a 2gb sandisk microSD.

So Im wondering well hoping that someone knows what I can do...or should I just give it up as a bad joke and stick with the working v.18 that refuses to play new games.

ps; I have downloaded countless wood files, r4 files with no luck..just this black loading screen. However I am will to try pretty much anything.

sounds like an original to me except for the fact of it playing on an sdhc as r4's don't support them.

firmware 1.18 is the old r4 firmware which hasn't been updated for years, so new games won't work. (as you have discovered).

wont do any harm tryuing the woods firmware, if it works then it will play the new games for you.

1. download latest woods firmware.
Digital Kaos - Downloads - woods 1.32

2. backup and format your 2gig sd card or use another 2 gig sd card to try this

3. extract the downloaded files then copy the _rpg folder and dsmenu file to root of sd card.

4. add a couple of games and see if it works.

Hi, Thankyou so much for your, I backed up my 2gb microSD, reformated the microSD and followed your instructions, added Mario Karts (being a game I knew worked) tried it both in a Games folder and just adding to the root file but all Im getting is the long lasting black loading screen so I'm guessing thats it must indeed be a very clever fake of the original

Hmm, I did have a bit of luck with the YSmenu and kept my old version 1.18. So far I am able to play the Alice In Wonderland Game and I have checked that it saves. Hopefully that will work with other newer games

So for those who can't get wood working, YSmenu is another option..probably not as good as Wood but Im happy!
