switch it on without a gamecard in it, then press the settings icon (looks like a spanner)
then look at the right hand side, on one of the screens it will say 1.4.1 or 1.4.2 or summit similerComment

on your card it should say version 1.4 or 1.4.1 or summit like that too,
if you go to the website on your card it will tell you which cards cn be updated to work on these consoles.
i am not sure about the 1.4.3 firmware, some people are saying r4igold cards have broken the 1.4.3 update, but there are many diffrent r4igold cards and there is no mention of it on the website....Comment

well, i'm stumped with that one.
the number in the star refer to which version of dsi the card can play on when manufactured.
should be labelled 1.4, 1.4.1, 1.4.2 or 3ds.
there is no dsi 1.5 firmware? and acording to the site you posted they dont have cards labelled 1.5 either...
so i'm stumped..
did ya buy it online?

i have 1.4.2E as i updated dsi for my son and now r41 card wont work, which spftware do i need pleasewell, i'm stumped with that one.
