Nintendo DS Lite R4 Card displaying error message.

So i have a new R4 card (says on it "R4 upgrade revolution for DS (NDSL/NDS)

I'm not very familiar with using these cards, but I've downloaded the relevant firmware, and used winrar, and put the files onto the 2gb SD card. Once it's put back into my ds, I get white screen, displaying a red SD card, displaying a " ? Menu"

I've tried several different types of firmware, and nothing seems to work, all i get is this error message.

I've looked in forums, and they say you need to make sure you've got certain files on there, and I do.
I'm just totally stuck ):

If someone could help, I'd really appreciate it.

is it an original r4?

1. format sd card
2. download latest woods firmware from here
3. extract the files using winrar
4. open the folder you are left with and copy the _rpg folder and ds menu file to root of sd card.

pop it in a dslite and see if it works....

I did all of that, and i'm getting the same error message /:

And, i don't know if it's an original, how can i tell?

the red menu message means it cannot find firmware.

maybe its not an original card, is there any web address on the card?

no, woods wont work with that.

i think the firmware you need will be on here.

i've circled the two that i think might be for your card,
proberly the top one......

do i put the whole folder on? or certain files?

when you download the file and extract it you will be left with a folder.
open the folder and there will be maybe 4 to 6 files/folders inside.
copy the various files/folders inside it onto root of sd card.

i tried both, formatted beforehand each time, and the same error message comes up.
Out of the two you said, the photo of the first one, is exactly identical to how my r4 card looks.

you see it could be a fake version of that card or anything....

can be a nightmare trying to find correct firmware for some of these old r4 clones

only other thing i can suggest is trying a few of the r4 firmwares from here

I'll give those ones a go, i have tried quite a few before.
What if none of them work? do i need to buy another card? /:

tbh m8, i think you'll struggle with the card.
even if you get the right firmware for it, newer games won't work.....

Hi! I have the same problem with R4i Revolution card? How can I check if it's gone or still working? My little DS Lite does not recognize it?

hello,wot were the original files in the r4 before the error??can you remember wot was on the screen? if it said v1.8 in the corner then i would say it was an original,and the wood firmware is brill and most of the new games work,only draw back u can only use 2gb card- good luck
