i don't think your card has been updated for 1.4.2 or 1.4.3 consoles.
      what i would do is

      1. get ether a dslite or dsi running 1.4.1 or below. (oncew updated the card should work on you 1.4.2 dsi.

      2. download the cards firmware from here.

      3. format sd card (it is recommended to use a formatting tool)
Digital Kaos - Downloads - sd formatting tool

      4. extract the downloaded firmware, open folder then copy the various files folder to sd card.

      5. add a game or two and test in dslite or older ds.

if it works then you will have to run the card update file in order to get it to work on your 1.4.2 console.

the information was usefull but i dont have an older ds to work on will have to ask around and see if i can use someone elses and will let you know, my sons got an ordinary ds but cant put it in that one because the chip is 8gb and will only allow upto 2gb unless i take off all the info off his sd card and use his to update it on will that work do you think ?

if your son has a ordinary ds then your laughing,

it will probably have an r4 card in that which can only go up to 2gb,
but you can put your new card in it with ANY size sd card.
