Acekard 2i and 3ds - Help Needed Please

Before I mess the boys 3ds's up I'd like some instructions/advice please.

Bought acekard 2i (purchased from R4i Gold 3DS | R4i Gold 1.4.3 | R4 3DS Card | R4 3DS UK) for christmas for their 3ds's (they have had them a few months so the 3ds's are not brand new)

Just want to check I'm doing this right as have never used acekard's before.

I have formatted the micro sd card, have downloaded ak2ifw_update_3ds30_DSi143_onDSi_and_DSXL_and3DS.n ds

and placed this directly on the micro sd card. Is this the right way to do it?

Also the roms do I need to put in a separate folder on the micro sd card or just add them anywhere?

If the above is right, is it just a matter of popping it in the 3ds and away we go or is it more complicated than that?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hmmm, well i must have done something wrong!!

I've put the akaio 1.8.9 firmware on the card, along with the update file (above), plus put a rom on the card as well,

get an icon, looks like a pink bow tie (or something similar) with some japanese/chinese writing plus the word DORASU but when you press A it just says An error has occurred, please press & hold power etc. etc.

      Hellpppppppppp

            ok dokay...
this is what ya neded to do...

            1. format your sd card (fat32) preferbly using the panasonic formatting tool

            2. download this.
            dslite update#.rar

            3. extract the file direct to root of sd card

            4. put sd card in acekard into dslite, browse to update file and perform update.

            5. put the acekeard into your dsi/3ds and the icon should have changed to prince of persia.
if it has then your done card is up to date and should work..

            PS.

don't forget to delete the update file from your sd card (incase the kids acidently start an update later on),
also make sure console is plugged into charger during update.
if power fails during update you can brick the card..

sorry to be a pain, do i keep the 3 acekard files on the sd card plus the above update or just the update, do that and then put the 3 acekard files on?

Edit: just looked and all the files are on there anyway, will try it now. thanks

hi sorry to be a pain but i just wanted to check before i mess up my sons new 3DS. i bought a new acekard 2 and the firmware on the 3DS is ver.2.2.0-0E. when i asked for advice before i purchased the card there was no mention of an update, do i still need to do it? and if i borrow a dsi or lite when i do the update can i do any harm to that? i.e stop it being able to play back up games, some really simple noob advice would be greatly appreciated. many thanks in advance.

nintendo update the console fimrware regularly now which blocks flashcards.

it is recommende to keep the flahcard up to date.

if your 3ds is on v2 then you could proberly use that to do update.

no you cannot damage console doing update.

if you dont update the card and the console gets updated either online or by a 3ds game , then it will block your card....

                          its up to yourself.
problem is that 3ds games force the console to update,
if the console gets upgraded then it will block the card...

                          files and easy instructions here.

Hi i bought an acekard to run on my new 3ds and it was all working fine with homebrew games until i bought the new mario 3ds game when it asked to run an update which i forgot i wasnt supposed to do... The acekard no longer works and it seems to have blocked my sd card as cannot format it.... The version is now 2.2 does this mean i can longer use the acekard or is there a way round this? Any help would be much appreciated
