you see this is the problem with priceangels,
they sell clones and genuine cards side by side.
the card you have bought is the cheaper option and looks like a clone to me.

you will notice the picture i have circled.
acekards now have an anticlone sticker on back which is missing here.
now,
it may just be an old picture or summit, but look at the more expensive acekard.

To many clones/ copies around for all cards,I got a r4i-3ds card with proof sticker on to check on website,when I removed this sticker which was holographic ! There wasn't even a ~~~~in number underneath

priceangels were also selling a card called acekard3i.
this was basically a cheap clone which wouldnt take the kernal updates.
i have heard stories where people have bought mulitple cards and got some clones and genuine cards mixed....
i supppose you take a chance wherever you buy these cards from now.
difficult to find a supplier in europe at all now

to be honest i havent a clue about these cards,i was told just to order the clone one which does excatly the same,which i have and just waiting on it being delievered, will i have any problems with it as it will be a clone? thanksComment

i have heard of 2 major problems with clones.
1. firmware updates.
some clones will only work with the firmware that is available when card is produced, so when new akaio firmware gets released, you can't update, therefore newer games won't work.
2. card updates.
acekard card updates (which are released to combat nintendo console updates) sometimes wont work on clone or fake cards.
this becomes a problem if you have a newer console running on newer firmware.
also trying to update a clone card can brick the card.....Comment

thanks mate for the info, i no my kids dsi is on firmware 1.4.3, im also not sure if my card will work without trying to update it,when it arrives il let yous no anyway,hope it does as im waiting weeks on this

if the card is fully updated it will show up as prince caspian icon on the dsi,
if it shows as anything else, you will need to update..

hi mate, my acekard 2i finally came from priceangels,but when i try it in the dsi there is a ALEX RIDER STORMBREAKER which i select then tell me clone 3,it may not be a genuine acekard, i was told to buy this clone one and cant believe its not working,iv waited 6 weeks, is there anything i can do with this card? i also tried it in a ds lite thinking id have to update the card etc but its just giving me the same thing exect it dosent say alex rider stormbreaker but still saying clone etc when i select,please help someone,Comment

i was worried this would happen....
not only is it a clone but it is an old clone.
those clones were designed to work on dsi's running firmware 1.4.
ann pdate was released on September 8, 2010 which would have blocked it...
1. format your sd card.
2. download this firmware
Digital Kaos - Downloads - akiou 1.8.1
3. extract then copy _aio folder and AKmenu file to root of sd card.
4. test card in dslite console
let us know if you get the card to boot at all....Comment

right, now you have a choice to make
that is old firmware that was around when the card was manufactured.
it will work happily but games released after about nov 2010 wont run on it.
couple of options to try here...
A. attempt a card update.
if it works, then newer akaio firmware might work on it and it might work on newer console, but might brick the card....
B. patch games to work on the older firmware.
there is software to take the AP measures off of newer games.
you might get more games working doing this but it will not work on a dsi running anything higher than 1.4 firmware.
i could try and help you with either of these methods,
i don't use clones , so i am in unfamilier waters here..
what way do you want to go here?
