newbie needs help with a 3ds and r4

hello guys

ok so i never had a ds before never mind 3ds, but i do own a wii which i soft modded myself. i recently bought my daughter a 3ds. i heard the you can play games on ds, dsi and 3ds on r4 card. so i purchased a r4itt card. i found a site where to get games, put games on card but didn't work was wondering do i have to mod it like a wii what i am really looking for is a full tutorial if anyone can help me

ok here are some details iam using a purple r4itt card i downloaded 3DS v3.0.0-5 upgrade package of purple R4iTT it was the latest version on the site. my 3ds is v 3.0.0-6e. i put the firmware on the card and put games in a new folder called games i plug in card and nothing happens what am i doing wrong.

ok then,


you have the latest version 3ds console.

according to the cards site, it can play on the latest 3ds console but card needs to be updated to do this...

problem is, you will need an older console to update the card.


looking at the site,
i would suggest trying to get hold of either:

1. any dslite or dsphat.
2. a dsi/dsixl on firmware 1.4.1 or earlier.

by the looks of it the card has been around before 3ds console were released and may not play on any of them without an update.

the problem you have is that you don't know how up to date the card firmware is.

can you borrow a dslite for 10minutes?

i dont know anyone with a old ds is there not any work around

well not really,

problem is,
the console with newer firmware is blocking the card, so you cant use it to update card....

just to double check you have firmware correct.

1.download your firmware from here
2. format your sd card (fat 32)
3. extract the folder you downloaded and copy the files to root of sd card so that file structure is like this on sd card.

ok so i tried this and still nothing so looks like i am going to need to get hold of an old ds. can you please give me details what i need to do to update the card pls advise

this is the update file

extract it to root of sd card along with the firmware you already have.

put card in dslite and switch on.

start update file and follow onscreen promps.

when you say card is doing nothing, do you mean it is not showing up at all on console?

i would have expected it to show up but give an error when attemting to run

Nothing happens it recognizes i plugged in cartridge it in but then the little square stays blank am i being stupid. all i need to do is just put files on card then put card in cartridge then cartridge in 3ds. do i not need to change software like the wii.

yes m8 thats all you do...

unfortunatly there is no hack for ds consoles like the wii...

it would be great if there was right enough, would save all this hassle getting diffrent cards to works...
