    Question with R4i NDSiLL Revolution

Hello I never owned a ds before my 3ds, so im a complete noob here. My 3ds version is still 1.1.0 or something like that, I have never updated it because I'm afraid my r4 will no longer work...

I want to update my 3ds, but I have no idea up to what version my r4 will work...

they have this website R4i Ndsill Revolution for NDSi/NDSL/NDS but it isn't very useful, it doesn't say what version they can play... there is also no way to contact them on their site.

Although they have a download page in site, but still doesn't say what version it can play, and I have no idea what version is in my r4...

    My r4 looks like this

Any help will be gladly appreciated

edit: also another noob question, suppose I download from say like r4i gold site? can I use that for my r4?

if you update your console then your card will stop working.

3ds v4.2 was released a few weeks ago which blocks flashcards.

yes you are right the site is not very helpful.

difficult to work out which cards are updatable and which are not..

since I have never updated my 3ds, how does the 3ds update?

Does it update to latest version, or does it update one by one till it reach the latest?

it will update to latest available version.

normally done online, if you connect to a nintendo service you will be prompted to do an update

i am not sure but i think there are also some games that insist on an update before playing. ( they do it with the wii, soo probably do it with the handheld consoles also)

i would advise you do not update atm.

alot of flashcards are currently blocked by the latest update

thanks, another question, how does 3ds update online? does it need my confirmation, or it updates automatically?

because I have read some articles that 3ds updates without the user's consent. Will it download an update once I connect to the internet?

it's been a month since I bought my 3ds, and I have never turned my wi-fi on not even once, because I'm to afraid it will update >_<

thanks for the tip, I won't be updating it, guess I'll have to save money to buy a new flash cart. I am thinking r4i gold or acekard... what do you think is the better choice?

            it should ask you.

you should see a message saying summit like "an update is available, update now?"
