3DS XL - Any deal breakers?

All,

Santa has intimated a 3DS or 3DS XL is on the list for my wee girl this year.

In terms of cards is there any major issues (i remember too well my PSP nightmares )

If not is R4 still the best for keeping up to speed with the firmware updates etc?

r4 card is for dslite only, loads of cards for dsi/3ds's

acekard, many variations of r4i/r4i gold/r4i 3ds etc, dstwo super card.

the latest 3ds firmware 4.4.0-10 block all flashcards but patches have been released for a few.
some of the r4i cards and the supercard dstwo work on all models.

one word of warning though, the acekard2i which is popular as it is cheap and works well DOES NOT YET work on the latest 3ds.

tbh they have been really slow on firmware updates for a year, so might be worth steering clear of the them..

a real shame too, it was a cracking card for the money and ease of use....

Santa is also going to be delivering a 3DS XL to my daughter this xmas. I've been reading the net for days regarding all the cards I can use, theres a lot mentioned, R4, R4i, R4i SHCD, R4 Gold, Acecard dstwo, argghhh.
Which one is suitable now, for the new firmware, R4i? Have you a link of a known trusted provider in the UK because there are so many sites selling them, or it'll take me another week before I decide which site to use.
Sorry for being a pain.
Also, does anybody know if they're close to getting a card working with 3DS games?

I am also getting my boy 1. I have a acekard 2i in his ds now so it will work if the 3ds is not the newest firmware ? If u had to buy 1 2day barrowman what would u buy ?

only store bought games will play in 3d there are no carts that will play 3d games anywhere in the world 3d has not been cracked yet and looks a long way off

Yeah I know that just want a good card to play games and good back up. That's why I ask barrowman cause he sounds like he knows what he is talking about. So wondered what u uses

my son has an acekard in his dsixl and my daughter has an m3 simpy card (r4 1:1clone) in her dslite.

thinking of upgrading the lad to a 3ds this xmass,
tbh i wasnt overly impressed with the 3d effect so not sure whether its worth it...

would have to use one of the r4i clones for that...
