R4i V1.4 Fix-it Tutorial for Dummies pls...

So the R4i Upgrade Revolution (V1.4) game card we ONLY JUST got for christmas has stopped working - no game card inserted error message.

I have done lots of research and still don't understand much about what I am reading but I have re-loaded the kernal from R4i-SDHC.com (and yes, after 4 attempts I'm sure I finally got the right version). It still isn't working.

I tried the micro card in the other game card we have (not R4) and it does register that there's something in the game slot, though it can't read the data. Does that mean the R4 card itself is probably f****d?

Next step - is it worth trying to format anyway? How do I do this? I see there is a downloadable formatting tool on this site, is it obvious after that??

Next step if that doesn't work - buy a new card. But a) which one to go for? b) Can I transfer all the games from the f****d R4i card?? c) Will it work on the DSi which is running ver 1.4E???

Micro SD card not detected now - PLEASE HELP!!

am about to throw the towl in...

I decided to try formatting the card and then putting the software back on. I copied the games onto my PC and formatted the micro SD card. I tried to copy the games back on but kept getting error notices... I eventually did it in stages and I think that worked. However, when I went to copy across the software, the PC couldn't detect the micro SD card at all.

What have I done??

Is there anything I can do to recover the games now or should I just get a new card and download some new games. Arrrgh.
