Advise on 8GB card for R4DS

I recently downloaded some games for my son DS.

The R4DS (original) comes with 2GB micro SD card. Due to increasing number of games, I bought a 8GB card to accommodate (w/o research). It doesn't seem to work... Could any one provide a fix here. Is there an alternative firmware that could do the trick?

Currently, it is running on v1.18 from R4,R4 DS,R4DS-www.r4ds.com.

    Thank you.

the reason it doesn't work is because original r4 cards don't suport sdhc cards.

in other words you can't use a sd card bigger than 2gig with them....

i know because i made the same mistake years ago....

there is no fix for it m8......

u could put woods firmware on your card......
it wont make the 8gig card work but newer games that don't work with the original firmware will work with it.....

      Thanks barrowmanandrew,

Will try our the Woods firmware later.

I noticed that the moonshl folder is missing; Isn't that the folder where the skin is stored? Do I keep the moonshl folder?

Is there a official website where I can read more about the Woods Firmware?

      Thanks in advance.

The original R4DS seem to have a maximum capacity of 4GB. Have a read here; search for 4GB.

I have also read in a few forum that the max size is 2GB. Has anyone tried this?

yep according to manufacture's it can take up to a 4 gig sd card,
you will be hard pressed to find one, 4 gig cards are normally sdhc cards.

i have tried 4gig sdhc cards, they don't work.

i have never came across a 4 gig sd card......

Although I do not know what is sdhc. (high capacity SD I suppose).
