Hello im new to the group but would be grateful for any ideas. I purchased an r4 gold card and have downloaded everything onto it fine. It worked for a day in my daughters dsxl but was a bit slow. Now when i put the r4 card in the ds keeps showing " an error has occurred. Press and hold the power button to turn the system off. Please refer to the nintendo dsi manual. HAve turned it off and on several times but keep geting the same message. Would appreciate any ideas as this was a present fro my daughter.

i would reformat the sd card and start again.....
i am curious by "a bit slow"
the card may have had problems trying to read the sd card...
what size sd are you using?
if it is a big card you might want to use a proper formatting tool to do it.
do you have a link to wherever you bought your r4 card? -
check what micro sd card you have because have had probs with kingston 2gbComment

thanks but dont think its sd card
ive tried reformatting the card, putting on firmware but no joy. i updated the dsi xl whilst the r4 card was in it and ive had problems with it since then.Comment

Re-format your card
And copy file + folder to root of your sd card

When did you purchase card?,what exactly is it called on the box,is your ds on 1.4.1 fireare now or something else.....

hello. r4 called r4i v1.5. gold in colour and has R4i GOLD Revolution for NDSi/NDSL/NDS. do you know if its possible to unblock the card. its coming up on the ds lite but not the games. there was me thinking this was going to be easyComment

ok, there is a new unoficial firmware released for that card...
what to do is copy everthing from your sd card to your pc, incase this doesn't work.
then reformat your sd card (fat 32)
then download this firmware.
Wood_R4ids_Gold_v1.20.rar
copy the files and folders to the root your sd card ( do not put in folders)
copy a few games back over and see how you go.
try on your dslite then your dsi
just so that you know..
i havent tried this firmware myself....
i dont have any r4 cards anymore...
if it doesn't work, then you can put original files back on sd card using the backup you created......Comment

the r4 card is gold coloured and says r4igold.cn. If the card is blocked will that block all cards from rthe ds or just that particular card. What firmware do i use because i tried the one trhat use to work but think its now void due to update. im getting very confusedComment

dsi version 1.4.1 was brought out for the sole reason of blocking gamecarts.
most cards were blocked by the update.
now (this is where it get confusing).
the card manufactures were well aware that ninty were going to bring out an update and some cards (r4i gold which you have) and acecards, had a function built in called "kernal update"
this flashes the gamecard itself to bypass the dsi update.
now,
acecards update worked very well and all original acecards can be pplayed on dsi version 1.4.1 (assuming update has been done correctly)
but,
r4i gold cards are a diffrent story.
i have read posts which say the update works , others that say it doesn't...
the problem is these cards are all fakes and cards that look identical can be very diffrent inside....
your best bet would be to try the update mickydibble has posted...
if that doesn't work,
then sell or give the card to someone with a dslite and buy an acecard......Comment

thank for getting back to me. will try the link mickeydible says but if no joy where would i get an ace card from and would it make any difference if i got another r4 card or will all r4i cards be blocked from my dsi machine. Sorry to keep goin on but this was suppose to be my daughters christmas present.Comment

personally,
i wouldn't touch an r4 card now, there are just too many variations all with diffrent firmware.
a ~~~~in nightmare to get going (just my opinion)
have a look on here
count the amount of diffrent r4/r4i cards out there....
all with diffrent firmware,
some work on 1.4
some work on 1.4.1
never ~~~~in ends........
i buy my acecards from here.
one card.
one firmware
works on all curent ds/dsi's.
firmware gets updated regularly so newer games work before long....
no brainer in my book......
only downside is delivery takes 2/3weeks.....Comment
