DSi n00bie!

So I've just bought a DSi and want to download games to play on it!

1. I've heard i need one of these cards / gamecarts, my DSi is 'Ver 1.4E' at the moment, but the DS shop is telling me to update. Is it OK to update? Will I still be able to play downloaded games if i do this?
2. What card do I need, i have seen a R4i for ?12.99 will this do?
3. Do I just use the .nds roms from the internet - dragged and dropped onto a Micro SD card which is then put into the R4i gamecart thing?

personally i wouldnt buy an r4i card m8,
there are too many variations.
have a read through the section, it is littered with people having problems getting corrrect firmware for there card.

in my opinion your cash would be better spent on an acecard.

with the lates firmware on, it plays almost all games....

do you mean acekard 2i ?? will this play every game new and old?

yes with latest akaio firmware on it will play almost all games.

sometimes the brand new games dont work obviously because of ever increasing anti piracy measures.
but the firmware gets updated regulalry.

also acecards are designed for clean or unpatched roms, so if you have a rom that has been patched for a diffrent flashcard then it might not work...

ok - do i just use the .nds roms that i can get anywhere on the internet then?

+ i want to get one of these cards today, do real shops actually sell them? or is it just online??

yes just the .nds roms.

the cards are illegal in uk.
so you wont get from one from gamestation...

i only ever bought online m8,
suppose you might get some dodgy shop or market selling them....
