original r4's do not support sdhc cards.

try a smaller card 2gig maximum

i think you have original r4 card.

use a 2 gig sd card.

1. format sd card

2. download woods firmware

Digital Kaos - Downloads - woods 1.25

3. extract files and copy _rpg folder and DS.MENU file to sd card.

add games and give it a try...
