    White NDS screens HELP!

My son has got a nintendo ds lite which we have had for around 12-18 months, for the last couple of days both the top and bottom screens have gone white with some of the picture still to be seen in the screens, his games still load up but obviously he cant play on it while its like this....can anybody give any advice on the repair which i can hopefully do myself or would i have to take it to a shop to get it repaired. If anybody else has had these or similar problems before i would greatly appreciate any comments/advice you can give me. Thankyou very much. Nags....

No its nothing to do with the card or the ds settings, its summat to do with the console itself. It goes white then if you keep tapping the console near the start button it comes back with full colour, but then soon as you press any of the buttons it goes back white....im guessing its summat like a loose screen plug but i know nothing about them so i could do with some more help if possible, ive bought a screwdriver to open the ds up so i'll let you know how that goes on. Thanks.....

when u take it apart, you will notice that the back of screens is metal, this can cause problems with shorting,
its recommended to cover them with insulating tape.

here is the first video of a great series of helpfull tuts on assembling ds's.
you will see what i mean about the screen...
