streaming media from pc.

after a bit of help (well maybe alot of help here)...

i read the thread about media players and streaming movies direct to the wii without burning disks etc.

i have been at this all fkn day now and i have hit a brick wall...

here is my problem.

i have got mplayer ce and wiimc on my wii now.
i have search for and found lots of adveice on setting this up.

i think that i have the SMB share setup correctly.

problem is, none of the files on the shared folder are showing up on the wii, although it does seem to be connected to my pc.
if i switch off my pc i get a "failed to connect to share" error, when switched on it seems to connect...

is there a certain format for movies that has to be used for sharing or could there be summit else im doing wrong?

using mplayer can you see the shared folder on the pc?
did you also install the cios installer?
also can you post the config file here?

i cant see the shared file on wii.

this is how i set it up.
i created a folder on my main harddrive called "movies"
right clicked it and ticked shared.
advance settings share with everyone.

so its defo shared i think...

this is my config file..

#It's important use quotes (") on shares with blank spaces, see example 2

i have the cios installer but havnt installed it. (not quite sure what to do )

also read on another forum that "avast" antivirus causes problems....
just so happens that is what im using...

rename the folder on your pc to just movies no quotes
and from user1 delete buzzer-pc
you need to install the cios just put it in your apps folder and run it from homebrew channel and follow instructions is easy

done all that ck and it was still the same...

but then i uninstalled avast, rebooted pc and low and behold it started working.....

for some reason avast 6 interfers with it.....

anybody recommend a good free antivirus software.....

glad its working is there nothing in the setting were you can tell it to ignore the wii connecting?

im not sure m8, you would think so, but it didnt even flag any warnings.
it might just be a case of finding a diffrent av.

anyway i now have another problem..

the m player u posted is all working great. forwarded a channel exactly like you said with wad manager. looks great.

ive tried to forward a channel for wiimc. but this has a channel installer which runs froms apps folder.
when i run it i get an error message which says summit like "no nand access", so i cant get the channel on....
it works from homebrew, but id like to have a channel for it....
any idea where im going wrong here...

yes thats proberly what was wrong....
i had been also trying to set sharing up so that the missus could access the photo albums on the lappy....
now i know why it wouldnt work

ive put avg on, i'll see how i go with that.....

right ive downloaded to forwarder and installed the channel.

now when i start it from chanel,
it comes up with found dol loading files etc....

then at the end, just before it should launch it just hangs on the black screen....

it works perfect from homebrew channel....

what have i done wrong this time???

Hey bud, you might find your answer here somewhere. Or maybe try another forwarder.
