First time softmoding 3.4e advice please?

Okay, finally catching up to the 21st century.

My Wii is on 3.4e, done the banner bomb and have homebrew channel installed and I have used HackMii to install BootMii.

Now I see I need to install PatchIOS36 as next step..

But also I see there is a "safe update to 4.2"? should I do this before installing patchIOS36 and the cIOS files?

Or should I do the update afterwards?

Or do I need to update to 4.2 at all? What am I missing out on if I dont?

WiiBrew.org recommends installing hackmii and then updating to 4.3 using the official route? I assume this is if you only want the homebrew channel and you dont want to be able to play backups and load games to USBHDD?

P.S. Have spent hours going round and round in circles and cant really find a definate answer to my questions on the forum search so forgive me if this obvious to you and not to me

1. the 4.3 mod uses games I dont have
2. Why use a 4.3 mod if you want me to update to 4.1

the link is a pc program that is installed on your pc it asks you a few questions and downloads all the latest files and writes a tut for you it not a 4.3 tutorial it can mod any wii
4.1 because its considered one of the best system menus to be on
