hello,has anyone had this problem and managed to solve it,installed a wasabi dx in both kids wii,dip switch set to pal,updated wasabi to 3.0,only play pal backups dvd,so i softmoded wii back to original nand 3.3e,still only play pal backups dvd,so i softmodded back up to 4.1e,still only play pal backups,i have burned 25 ntsc wii games on dvd-r and dvd-dl,all games show up with picture on disc channel,but when press start,wii will freeze with black screen,and have to unplug from mains to reset,could the softmod block the wasabi dx from working properly,as wasabi should play region free,thats the point of buying them,all settings are set to region free wasabi and softmod,looks like i just burned ?40 buying two chips that dont work,well they do,but only pal backups.but it is easier to get ntsc than pal backups,and i dont want to go down the road of usb hdd,tried 3 hdd and wii wont pick them up,formatted to fat 32,thanx any info will help.otherwise looks like have to stick to pal games.

try looking here Genuine Wii Wasabi DX Solderless Plug and Play Modchip Including FREE Screwdrive WiiDriveKey.co.uk there is a diagram showing how your dip switches should be set.
you could of solved the of playing backups from the main game channel by modding them and installing darkcorp making it easier for your kids to play games and would of been free.sigpic -
i used Digital Kaos - Downloads - modmii 4.3.4
to softmod wii after i put wasabi dx in,dip switches are set at.1=off,2=on,3=off,4=off.on chip in wii,since i installed softmod i cant get into the wasabi setup mode,by pressing eject 3 times and go into gamecube disc channel by pressing start it should be wasabi setup,but i get backup launcher ver 0.2 wii gator.i know it is now not the dvd-r at fault,as i went out and purchased,25 verbatim and 50 ritek and 50 tdk and 50 aone,so all in i have tried 6 different types of dvd-r,to eliminate that its not discs to blame,now i can concentrate on the wii.i hope all this info will help out others who see this,now i am going to try darkcorp out as CK suggested,but i am going to take out the wasabi dx first,if i brick the wii,by updating with darkcorp will let you know here.i should just let my kids nip my head,cause this is hurting more.
.plus i have jumped from 20 cigs a day to 40,since started on the wii.anyone want to buy 2 kids cheap.or should i advertise that in bargain bucket..they have the following each-playstation one-playstation 2-xbox 1-xbox 360-and the dreaded wii.what next.UPDATE WELL installed darkcorp 1.1 and wii playing pal dvd backups without wasabi dx chip installed.now just have to find out how to play ntsc dvd backups,as wasabi states on advertisement for the dx it will play import backups,but i have found out to my cost that is not true,as i am on 4.1e it should be ok,as its from 4.2 that nintendo blocks backups from imports etc.

k i gave up on the import dvd loading,started scratching head what to do next,then the old brain fired up,i had a samsung usb external dvd rom,with sata connection inside case,so i took the rom out of case,and put a toshiba sata 120gb laptop drive in the rom case,formated with wbfs manager,then transfered an ntsc game onto the laptop drive to try out,plugged usb cable into wii,and bingo-full house,then tried a pal game but wbfs manager blocked it,so i will now transfer all ntsc onto the hdd,and just burn pal games to dvd,just need to buy a 2.5 hdd housing as the rom housing is massive.thanks ck for help you gave now and other times.ray.

yep for some reason the pal games i have that tried to put on usb hdd,came up with make sure hard drive is formatted,but all the ntsc games transfered no problem,burnt all the pal games to dvd,and all play ok.so as i said up there,will put ntsc on hdd and pal on dvd.i aint fighting with the wii no more,i did format the drive to fat 32 from ntfs,then formatted with wbfs manager.Comment
