Wii games freezing - help needed.

    Hi to all,

I'm after some help/advice please! I've followed the attached link and instructions to load up the Homebrew Channel + Uloader so I can play Wii games that I have loaded on an external hard drive.

No probs with following the instructions and all appeared to have worked. However - I'm having the following issues:

The Uloader programme (version 4.9c) won't always recognise the external hard drive (but if I unplug, shut down and restart the Wii a couple of times it does). Then - when I'm playing games they work all okay but then freeze without any warning (so I have to pull out the power and start again).

It's a right pain - does anybody have any ideas what may be causing the problem?

    Thx - Spooney

      Thank you!

Cool...appreciate the swift response. I'll give it a go (I assume I just delete the equivalent older files sitting on my SD card and replace with the new files) - will let you know how I go.

      Thx again - Spooney.

My kids have given the Wii it a proper workout today using V5.1. Still locking every now and again but far far fewer times than with the older version of Uloader. So good enough for me - keeps them off my back!!

        Cheers again - Spooney.

is it a usb powered hdd or main powered?
usb powered hdd's can sometimes have a problem with freezing.

                Hi again,

I'm using an iOmega Prestige 1.5tb USB 2.0 HDD. The link you provided says:

'Works fine via IOS249 rev 14/16/17 using USB-Loader GX with System Menu 4.1U'.

I'm using Uloader V5.1. and checking the IOS number quoted in Homebrew it says IOS61 v21.29. Thing is..it took me well over a day (I'd not class myself as technical!) to get it working to where it is now so I'd be a tad nervous about ripping anything out and replacing unless it was pretty simple to follow...

                Cheers again - Spooney.

It's starting to make more sense now....I am assuming that you have formatted to wbfs if you are using uloader..Have you partitioned the drive or have you formatted the whole 1.5tb to wbfs without partitions, if you have that could be your problem, as far as I can remember wbfs is a bit unstable over 1tb. Easy fix is to split the drive as uloader can read multiple wbfs partitions anyway and if that is the route you want to go, partition about 20/30 gig or so and format to fat32 and use it as emulated nand for game saves and save the precious little onboard memory on the wii and split the rest into two partions then format both to wbfs if you need that much
