4.3U Wii was knocked off of table while Disk was inside. I took it apart and was able to free up mechanism and remove Disk but now all I get is "Unable to read Disk" and then it ejects. I can't Mod it because I can't play anything to get started. I just bought a replacement Drive and installed it but it does absolutely nothing. I have taken it apart three times, checked all connections and still the same. It will not even take the Disk into the Drive. The old one at least accepts the Disk and spins, just won't read. All suggestions will be appreciated. The second Drive was bought as remanufactured on E-Bay.

sounds like your second drive might be no good, do you have access to a drive you know works? perhaps a friend or one of your family.4.3U Wii was knocked off of table while Disk was inside. New Drive, Not Working
ck-ok, thanks for your reply. This is my Grandaughter's second Wii that I've attempted to repair in as many weeks, I gave up on the first one after buying this remanufactured Drive on E-Bay and when I disassembled it I found the ribbon cable disconnected at both ends and a little Green circuit board about the size of a postage stamp with an unsoldered wire hanging loose. I had been trying to mod the first one with no luck, that's when I decided to try a new Drive. The repair shop must have just slapped it back together when I told them I did not want to spend another $75.00 on repairs. This one they said had shorted out the Drive due to a defective Fusion Modkey that I had installed. Anyway back to the second Wii. Grandaughter knocked it off the table while playing a game. Stopped playing with Disk stuck inside. I was able to remove after reading one of your posts about the levers getting stuck and Drive now accepts and rejects Disks as normal. However, while screen shows disk spinning I get the message "Cannot read Disk" and it spits it out. So now I installed this new (remanufactured) Drive in second Wii. Model 4.3U, White, never been modded. and I get it to do not a thing, it won't even accept a disk, just a dead horse. Am I doing something wrong here? Is this Drive the wrong one? I do not have access to another Drive and I'm at my wits end with my daughter-in-law driving me up a tree.Comment

take out the drive inspect all the pins on the leads and make sure none are touching also make sure the drive is not touching the motherboard and shorting out if in doubt try shielding it with a piece of cardboard.sigpicComment

New Drive, Not Working
Did as you suggested, checked all pins, seem straight, insulated drive with cardboard and this time was able to get Green light when pushing button but immediately went out when inserting Disk and same result, will not accept Disk and Drive does not spin.Comment

New Drive, Not Working
Have to amend my last reply, I let my wife look this time, her 70 year old eyes are 5 years younger then mine. She found the fifth pin from the left bent over inside the twelve wire connector on the new Drive circuit board. I know of no way to straighten this so I believe I'll just send it back for another.Comment
