Wii only loading with a grey screen.

Hiya, my Wii broke and my dad took it to be mended by someone he knows, unfortunatly he lives 3 hours away, anyway when i got it back its workig but i can only get it to load with a grey sreen, any ideas how to fix this?

is there any pictures or writing on the screen and what was wrong with it in the first place.
