Please help me, this is all sooo confusing, i would like to play back up discs.

    Hi There,

Please forgive me, as no doubt this has been asked before, but i've become really confused and just need a point in the right direction.

I have recently purchased a Wii for my sons and i have successfully put the Home Brew on it and the home brew browser using letter bomb, it is version 4.3e.

Since then for the past 2 days solid, i have been researching and trying to find out what i need to do next to be able play back up discs.

I've read so much that it's all kind of blurring into one now, I have so far downloaded but not been successful in intalling onto the consol. Wad manager, Dark Corp, Negamma R8, been putting them all on my SD card but they don't show up on my SD card. (SDHC 4gig)

So i figured i would ask, I am prepared to carry on researching, but i would really appreciate if someone could just point me in the right direction of what i need to instal and maybe any simple guides to do it.

As i said all i would like to do is play back up discs that i have on my computer already in .iso format that i intent to burn to disc using IMG burn.

Many Thanks for any help in advance

if your wii is new, then it will probably not be able to play backuip disks.

newer wii's have a new disk drive in them which is unable to read dvd backups.

using a harddrive would be your best option.

i'm pretty sure you cant use sdhc cards when softmodding.

if you have a smaller one you could try that....

          Hi

The SDHC worked for putting HB on so i figured it would work for the stuff i need to put on after?

          Thanks

            Welcome to the forum Mark.

Yes as barrowmanandrew says the newer Wii's don't play burnt DVDs. Type in your Wii serial number into Wii Drive Chip Database to see which drive you have.

Again your best bet is to use an external USB HDD.

He is also correct in saying you can't use an SDHC card to softmod a Wii but if you've already softmodded it then you have already found that out.

Well I tried a 4GB SDHC card to softmod one but it can't read the files on the SD card. I used a 2GB card and it worked as it should do. Even though a 4.3 can use up to 64GB SDHC cards. If it was a 2GB SDHC card you may get away with it.

After softmodding I use a 4GB card and it works ok.

                Thanks Keith

                The results were;

The Wii has a RVL-001(EUR) model number and is produced for the European market. The copyright year is 2006.

                DVD drive and chipset features

Your drive most likely has the following chipset:
                • There is a 100% chance the chipset is GC2-D2E and covered in black glue.

Can you confirm that even though the SDHC card seems to have worked to put Home Brew on, i will need to get a normal SD card to do the rest?

I can get a standard SD card, could you please point me in the direction of what i would need to put onto the console in order to play the copied discs? Or maybe point me to a "newbie tutorial that i may follow?

                Many Thanks

Here's a link to some USB loaders. Download them on pc, transfer them to your sd card and purchase an external usb hdd. It's better than having to insert game disc's all the time, too.

Most if not all of the downloads have readme files to help you through the install(s).

Yes thats the same spec fom my serial number and I can't play burnt games as NeoGamma brings up a 1167 DVD error number not that I'm that bothered as all games play of my ext USB drive.

All that I can comment on these SDHC cards is I softmodded mine with a 4GB SDHC card and it said file(s) not found. I put the same files on a 2GB SD card and it found them and softmodded. The exact same thing happened when I softmodded a friends 4.3E. After you have softmodded you can use the 4GB SDHC card I do and it works ok. As I said you can't play copied games of a DVD disc you can copy original games to the USB drive if your friends have some they can lend you.

Now softmodding is straight forward the problem comes when you try to install the different cIOS and IOS files needed to use the USB Loaders. As you will read in http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...i-4-3e-226857/ I got mine working after search around for the different cIOS and IOS files and I got another friends working after a shuffle around but my third friends wouldn't. PriiLoader 0.7 installed on the first two but not on the third.

I've made a new IOS36-64-v3608.wad and IOS58-64-6176.wad I will have to see if that cures the problem the next time I see her?

Now I think there are 5 different USB Loaders you can install. I use USB Loader GX, Configurable USB Loader and WiiFlow they basicall use the same cIOS249 so if one works they all should work.

Each of these USB Loaders has there own sub folder on the SD card where is stores all setting, game pictures and sound files etc, there must be there else it won't work. Each USB Loader has different features once you decided which on you have to use you can install a forwarder wad so it shows on the Wii menu. This saves running HBC finding the USB loader and running that. I have all 3 USB Loaders on my Wii menu.

                        Hi Keith,

                        I can't believe i actually did it!

I started again, I brought a new 2 gig standard SD card.

Re installed letterbomb, installed bootmii (which i missed before) and done a Nand? back up.

                        Then i installed the "modpackanywii"

And this loaded the USB loader and a disc loader and believe it or not a backed up disc worked, the boy is now playing a back up of Mario Kart on disc.

Thanks for all your help, I am going to read a bit more about getting a external HD as i think this will be easier in future

                        Thanks Again

Keith, I think the problem you may be having with your friends wii is that you are using cios and ios from ask over the place and developed at all different times. Even though they are essentially the same the different versions are not always compatible.......The fool proof method I use for every softmod is that if it's been longer than 2 weeks from the last one I've done, I download all the files from scratch and keep them in the same folder on pc. Each folder with download date. That way I never have a failed softmod as all files are compatible. Hope this helps you in the future. Just to confirm I do also use an sd card that is below 2 gb and not an sdhc just to be on the safe side

Well I'm going by if it works on two Wii's the same files should work on the third Wii but it didn't. Now with NUS Downloader (NUSD) v1.9 is makes IOS's with different versions now to me the newest version should be better as with any upgrade.

Mark - modpack-anywii doesn't install any USB Loaders (well mine didn't) only HomeBrew Channel Loader, BootMii even though the folder is MMM (Multi-Mod Manager) and the icon is BootMii and PriiLoader so I don't know why you installed that now you have USB Loaders?

                              Hi Keith,

I may have quoted the wrong program, but i used this

MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

                              File name: ModPack.-AnyWii.zip
                              File description: ModPack.-AnyWii.zip
                              File size: 45.79 MB

And it installed the disc loader and usb loaders

                              Cheers
