New Problem w/ CFG Usb Loader

Hey guys, I just got through softmodding my friend's wii, and everything went as planned from start to finish. (Used the 4.2 softmod guide that's stickied) and then installed the new d2x v7 b1 wads, and all installed without fail except 250.

I'm using a 320gb WBFS formatted drive, and I tried loading up Twilight Princess and a few other games and they all got stuck on the Loading Game, please wait.... screen on CFG Usb Loader. The only game that this didn't happen with was Okami, as far as I can tell.

I haven't tried USB Loader GX yet to see if it's a CFG Usb Loader issue, but will in a few minutes after I put it on my SD. Thanks guys.

Edit: I tried loading Media (videos and such) from USB and that's not working either. It just won't recognize the fact that there's a USB drive there. It's powered through USB so I can see that being an issue, but I figured I mention it as well.

But see, when I tried loading games from my Self-powered USB HD that I use with my Wii (flawlessly, save for Driver SF but who gives a **** because the PS3 version is infinityx better) just wouldn't load on my friend's Wii. It'd show the games in CFG, but would freeze on "Loading game... Please wait."

You say is doesn't recognise the USB HDD but if the game images show up then it much be reading the HDD else how does it know what games are on there?

Now with all 3 of my USB Loaders use the same cIOS249[38]-v17.wad. Which version of CFG USB Loader are you using? When it starts up you will see the version number and the IOS number its using on the bottom right. I upgraded to v70 a couple of weeks ago I was using v69. You can upgrade it in CFG if you click on the gears bottom left and Update and choose Programme Update. You will see a list of all updates available just navigate up and down to 70 (release) and press 'A' to install then do a restart. There is a 70-222 but it appears that uses the 222 IOS.

Also some people do have problems using a self powered HDD and some don't.

Yeah, I realize that it must be at least partially reading the HDD because the games show up, they just fail to launch. I'm using CFG 7, the most recent release. I have no reason to use 222/223 unless I'm playing Other M or Brawl or something, so as usual, I'm using 249. I've never had a problem with loading games from this Hard Drives on my Wii, but it's failing to load them on my friend's recently softmodded Wii and that's why I came to you guys. It's not the drive, it's the Wii.

      Any ideas?

You cannot get 250 to install because you are more than likely trying to install it on ios 36, what you need to do is update hbc to 1.0.8 which in turn will install a higher rev. of 236. This is what ios you need to install d2x on to get them all to install properly as they require the latest hbc.

Just had time to read all the posts. It sound like your problem may be with the fact it is a self powered hdd. As keith said some people have trouble others don't. This is because some wii's draw more power to the usb port than others which is why some work some don't, you may also have an issue with the hdd being in spin down (sleep) mode stopping it from activating fast enough to stop the error, this can be changed in hdd setting done on the pc but all makes are different so I can't help you with that. Best thing for you to do is either post a sys check or run modmii on the pc and put your sys check into that and out will download all the latest ios for you depending on what you already have installed

If I were you I would download syscheck and put it in the apps folder on the SD card and run it from Homebrew. This will save a sysCheck.csv file on the root of the SD card, do the same for your friends Wii and compare the results or you could copy and paste them in here so we can see any differences.

If you have Homebrew Browser on the SD card you can browse the apps and download syscheck straight to the SD card.

There are different versions of syscheck out there but if you wii syscheck 2.0 download you will see the latest versions.

So yeah. 245-251 is d2x v7. This is a result of softmodding it a long long time ago and not really updating anything until Return to Dreamland came out and it had to be updated. At that point, all I did was d2x and that's it. If I'm missing any crucial updates, that'd be awesome to know.

I can't really run PimpMyWii or any other downloader because I can't get on the internet here, but will be able to over Thanksgiving break. Thanks!

Where is your homebrew channel and why are you running on ios 61 instead of 58. I don't know if this is because you are running a U system or not. I only have and e syscheck to compare it to but ios 247 is not v7. Here is my syscheck with everything running fine.

This has just been updated with modmii as I messed about with it too much trying to get tin tin to work and decided to remove darcorp until straightening things out. Don't worry about you not having iois 41 to 48 as these are not important as they are mainly for korean wii but come with the official nintendo 4.3 update, I just haven't bothered to remove them again, for some reason modmii put them back in but they do no harm so I think they will just stay.

Edit.....I have just noticed your syscheck does not say what bases you have installed 245 to 251 on....If they are the wrong bases they won't work

As I recall, I just opened MMM, reloaded in 236, then installed your recent d2x v7 b1 cios pack in batch. As you mentioned, 247 is actually just d2x v6, but I'm running Modmii to update everything and seeing if there are still issues afterwards.

Modmii will try to install d2x v6 as it is the only official release, you can either remove them from the pack or change 249 and 250 for v6 you can also reinstall 247 on it's own again, not that it matters unless you need it to run a specific game as most of the games run on 249 or 250

I decided to just make my Wii a virgin again and effectively start over, and this time successfully installed Homebrew Channel on IOS58 instead of 61. After everything is done copying back over to my SD card, I'm gonna try installing d2x v7 b1 again and see if any issues persist in gameplay.

As an unrelated question, since I've just been lazing my way through Wii softmodding and have only started keeping up to date as of like, a week ago, how relevant are Hermes modified ios222/223/224? Back when I first softmodded my Wii, those IOSes were necessary for dual-layer games like Brawl and Other M and Samurai Warriors 3 to play without issue.

Is that still the case or has hermes 222 been otherwise outmoded by d2x? (except in cases of games with microphones and such)

                          Thanks for the help!

hermes are still necessary but as you see from my sys check rodries does a modified version and v4 works best with loaders other than uloader that now make them work well with d2x but a you say dual later can now be played using d2x
