i have been given a wii with version 4.0E onit, and also a hard drive with some games on it has a configuarble usb loader i would like to be able to back up my games and also get a couplefrom somewhere just dance. i have never put a game on the hard drive so do i need software ifso which one thanks

ok been flicking through my wii. on the homebrew channel i have savegame manager version 1.0 if i load this can i back up a wii game from a disc. and will it copy to my hard drive or not thanks.

No you dont use this to back up games all you need to do is depending on which loader you have is make sure the hdd is all plugged in ready to go launch your loader channel etc then once its loaded there is an option to just place the original disc in and install ,it will take the iso file from the disc and place it on your hard drive.You will not need this disc again as its on the hdd so can mess about with the settings make sure press save then load game hey presto will run from hard drive.

ok i have put just dance 2 into the wii/ would like to back up. it comes up with update software not sure what to do now. if i update the software of the disc will it cause problems with the wii cheers.

silly question but have you got preloader/priloader installed if so got hacks online update or disc block dates on

but dont update until found the answer not sure if its a game update or a nintendo update

just place the game into the wii
then start your usb loader the usual ones g loader,gx loader,wiiflow,uloader etc.

there is an option once channel started for you to install the game with mine cfg loader think its the + that installs the game to the hard drive

The update on just dance is a system update to 4.3 unless you want to redo your softmod do not try to load it without priiloader installed to block disc updates

I've just had a look at CFG Loader doing an original disc backup. Click on Main button bottom left and click on Install, insert your disc. I haven't use CFG Loader to do this but I've used USB Loader GX you just click on the + Install button bottom left and that works great.

As salty said put the game into the wii but DO NOT click on the disc channel to load the game. Open your usb loader and there should be a button that will rip the disk to hdd, as salty said on cfg this is a + button. Cfg is the short name for your loader. When ripping this disk to hdd you will automatically remove the update partition making it safe to use.
