Is it possible to play music and/or movies from a network hd, the music an movies on my shared folder on th laptop, pc can i play but i can't connectto my network hd.

It may be a case of having to put your files into a folder on network drive, then setting these folders as shared from the pc, but you generally need the ip address for the host terminal to configure the smb share so remember to change the smb config file to direct it to the network drive instead of your pc -
I had guessed you knew the ip bit and if you have the ip for network hd you may have to set each individual folder on it to be shared as you have done with your pc/lappy. Remember in your smb config after you input the host ip you then have to set the name of the shared folderComment

The only way I've gotten any of my things to work here was to setup each thing (pc, laptop, network hd) with a static ip and occasionally I still have to give one of them a little kick now and then to wake them up.
Also, could be a encrypted device. No?sigpic
