Hi what Writer do i need to backup original wii games thanks in advance

You will actually need an HP LG GDR8161, 8162, 8163 or 8164 DVD ROM drive and NOT a writer. Plus some software called Raw Dump. Takes about three or four hours to "rip" an original with one of these.

cant you rip an original to an SD card also direct from the wii??

Shin if you have softmodded yes you can. You can also save direct to pc using wiidumper.
