    Help needed with softmod

    Hi,

I updated my wii to 4.3. I then installed Letterbomb with bootmii bundle(only installed bootmii as BOOT2). So now what I get is that when I go into HBC and then click bootmii, it loads the bootmii but nothing happens, my controller doesnt functions everythings locked, have to reset!!!

The next issue is that I copied thePriiloader to sdcard and from the HBC ran the install. Install ran fine, then I reset the wii so i could change the Priiloader options, but from the white menu I try and click chnage settings and gives me an error unable to load hack_hash.ini file.

Any help would be greatly appricated..

Well I must admit I've never tried LetterBomb yet as I bought the Indiana Jones disc.

Now the reason when you go into BootMii from HBC exit nothing happens is because you didn't follow the install procedure correctly.

    1. You install Homebrew.
    2. You install BootMii.
    3. You Prepare SD card.

The Prepare SD card makes a [BootMii] folder on the SD card without this BootMii will do nothing it won't do a NAND backup which is essential. Run HBC installation again but only choose Prepare SD card then you should be able to run BootMii and do your NAND backup. Then save the [BootMii] folder and keys.bin and nand.bin of the root of the SD card some where safe.

Now I thought that all 4.3's would only install BootMii on to IOS not Boot2, they do say that Boot2 is better but I can't confirm that?

I assume you have installed PriiLoader 0.7? To install PriiLoader the hacks_hash.ini has to be in the apps\priiloader folder before it will recognise its there.

As you install PriiLoader there is one part that says something like can't find password file but you ignore that.

      Help needed with softmod, Update

      Hi,

Many thanks for you help, I have followed your suggestions and I have managed to sort the priiloader issue. The only problem I have now is that when I boot into Bootmii, my controller does nothing(on the controller the lights just flash). I have managed to backup the NAND and prepare the SD Card but still it does nothing (on the controller the lights just flash).

I also tried to reinstall everything but still the same,

      thanks

that's because the controllers have lost there sync. Point the wii mote at the wii and press the button in the battery compartment of the wiimote the lights will flash now press the sync the button in the sd card compartment of the wii until only one light is on, on the wiimote

I would have thought that would have been the first thing to try HH?

In BootMii the remote doesn't work you have to navigate with the Power and Reset buttons. Power selects each icon in turn and Reset uses that item. Select the the gear icon on the right press Reset then press Reset again on the next screen to backup your NAND. Wait for it to finish then back out to the Wii menu.

Now that PriiLoader is installed you can access BootMii from that menu because it you ever did brick it and nothing worked how would you restore the NAND?

So have to blocked online and disc updates in PriiLoader?

Thanks for all your help so far, I think I am nearly there. Followed Modmii and its has installed all the IOS and USB Loader, so what I have now is that when the wii reboot its goes to modmii, I go into HBC. From Here I have coped over the USB Loader GX, when I go into it it instialises and then says no USB Drive found. I have Freecom 500GB Toughbook. It is partitioned into 380GB for personal files (NTFS) and 120GB (FAT32) with all the wii file from ModMii Wizard.

It goes into modmii because the [modmii] folder is on the SD card.

Thanks tried that, but still same thing. It loads USBLoader GX (via HBC) and then says intilizing and then saysing waiting for HDD. The USBloaderGX is now under the SD:\apps\USBloader_GX and SD:\bootmi\. Not sure what else to try, do you know if it needs a specific model of USB drive....

It seems that when the wii boots up it goes into BOOTMII, if I go back to the Wii System Menu it gives me a blank screen with 4.3 EU in bottom corner??? and if I remove the SD Card it does the same.....

you need to switch on the hdd some hdd are not recognised if gx is started after hdd is switched on so start gx then when it says waiting for hdd switch on hdd and if your wii is reading 4.3 EU then you have messed something up badly as your wii must be either E (europe) or U (usa) not both unless they have changed the format for european to eu but I've never seen it...Rename bootmii folder to bootmii1 and that will stop the wii booting straight to bootmii.

I can confirm that it only says 4.3 EUR on bottom right. I did try my drive as you said but it still did n't work. Its one of these slimline ones power is via USB

The issue with the black screen was that I enabled recovery mode hacks in priiloader. Now trying to get USB Loader working Thanks for your help so far.

there's your problem then you should always use a self powered hdd the wii in general cannot produce enough power to the usb port to run the drive. Some usb powered drives do work but the rule of thumb is to use a self powered to minimise the problems. That would be 4.3E as i know it then...they must have changed it.

I was going by what ck-ok said when someone else had the same problem.

My BootMii folder is still on the SD card and mine boots normal.

Now you have PriiLoader installed check the settings in there as you can boot to what ever app you want you may have changed that without knowing?

Yours boots as normal keith because you have a newer wii and bootmii can only be installed as an ios. In the older wii's bootmii can be installed into boot2 which will auto boot on start up if the bootmii folder on the sd card is not renamed or removed. But you may be right about him setting priiloader to auto boot to to bootmii....My brains a bit mush this weekend I'm on 24hrs till monday so at best I'm half asleep most of the time and the other half I'm trying to stay awake plus the fact I haven't been following this thread as closely as I would like. So I might just step back a minute and let you deal with this one.

Andymiller doesn't say which Wii version he's using.

You learn something everyday about Wii softmodding.
