Removing the crack from my wii

A friend put a crack on my wii last year so I could play some games on a harddrive but now I can't use any new games since I can't update the wii with this installed. I wanted to remove this and was told I could by reformatting. Now that the wii has been reformatted the update fails everytime we try. Is there any way to fix this??

Just bought my son a Sonic Colors game for Xmas and can't play because it needs to be updated. I think I know what to do but need to post before I can download anything......Thanks

Is this why you want to remove HBC so you can do the updates for Sonic Colors game? Is this a game disc or is there more to it?

First of never format it as it may never work again from what I hear.

Who ever softmodded it for you I'm assumimg they have installed PriiLoader which block on online or disc updates. You don't say which version Wii you are using but if its not 4.3 then if you do any online updates it will installed 4.3 so you will loose you softmod and have to softmod it again. This is now easier with LetterBomb. You could trying removing the disc updates inside PriiLoader just press the Reset button to bring it up and look at which setting have been enabled then disable them and see what happens with this game.

The choice is your if this game won't work without any updates then you may as well do the online update. This is only my opinion whether any one else agrees or disagrees we will have to wait and see.

It sounds like priiloader is installed and set to block disc updates. If that is the case then it is probably set to block online updates as well. Did the person that did the softmod leave any files on an sd card for you.

I didn't say which version I have cause I don't know....I'm not real good with electronics but I know he said I couldn't do updates after what he did so he blocked the wii from going on the internet to do the updates. I will check that priloader you talk about if I can figure out how. And yes he put files on a sd card for me but I took that out when I formatted. I know now not to do that but it's what was written on a forum when someone else asked how to remove the softmod from his wii and now it's too late.

Here are the settings in PriiLoader you need to change

Just press the Reset button to access PriiLoader. Disabled Block Disc Updates and Save settings at the bottom. Then press 'B' to move back to the main menu and select System menu.

The try it again.

To see which version Wii you have click on the Wii button bottom left then click on the Wii Setting the spanner picture on the right the version number will be show on the top right.

And yes he put files on a sd card for me but I took that out when I formatted.

So you've formatted the Wii now or the SD card?

Unfortunately I think both cause there is nothing on the sd card now, it was in the wii when I formatted it. I pressed reset on my wii and got the exact same screen I get when I turn it on so I don't know how to get to the priiloader. Thanks for all the help

Well now this game is working by disabling the disk updates I would enable the Block Disk Updates back in PriiLoader if I were you.
