Wiimms ISO Tools - noob problem

Trying to use my 80gb ipod with usbloader. This site (USB Devices Compatibility List - WikiTemp) says it is possible if I format using a command line version of WBFS. I'm trying to use "Wiimms ISO Tools" to accomplish this but whenever i attempt to open any of the applications in /bin it simply flashes open for a second then immediately closes...I feel like this is probably a noobish oversight and would greatly appreciate any advice on how to fix this or maybe a different program to use. i'm on win7 64 if it matters.

You don't say the make a model of your 8GB ipod drive, I've enver know anyone use an ipod drive? I don't see anything in your link that says format using a command line version of WBFS are you using WBFS Manager?

If its an ipod drive then its powered from the USB port which can cause problems. I think you will be better of buying a mains powered USB external hard drive. Depending on how many games you have or are thinking of downloading then I would say at lease 500GB. You can format it with WBFS Manager but it will be no good as an ipod.

If your using WBFS Manager did you download the 64bit version?

      thanks for the reply

I'm pretty sure it's the Apple Ipod Video 5.5G 80 GB. It mentions the command line version of WBFS in the notes column to the right. also to run it in disk mode which I've been doing.

I've formatted it to WBFS with WiiBackupManager and got an error like "exception occurred" when trying to use it with ubsloader. As for WBFS Manager, I get "an error occurred when attempting to format the drive". I did accidentally DL the 32 version but it wouldn't even install. I'm not concerned with loosing it as an mp3 player,I was just hoping to put the old thing to some use instead of buying an external and that list gave me some hope...

I think your clutching at straws trying to make a ipod drive work as I said if it did work you won't be able to use the ipod for mp3's as it won't recognise the WBFS format.

I've just read that link again and says nothing about format using a command line version of WBFS?

Buy yourself an 8GB flash drive which should hold 2 games as WBFS Manager compresses them just to see if it works. If it does then cut your losses and buy yourself a proper mains powered external USB drive.

well, I really don't care if it works as an MP3 player as I have another smaller one that i prefer.

as for the link (USB Devices Compatibility List - WikiTemp) it seriously does say what I've told you, just ctrl+f ipod till you get to the 80gb

It seems like at least one person has successfully used my model of Ipod by formatting it to a command line version of WBFS and running in disk mode...I googled "format command line WBFS" clicked the first link (https://sites.google.com/site/comple.../wbfs-managers) which seemed to suggest Wiimms ISO Tools (wwt+wit: Wiimms WBFS+ISO Tools - GBAtemp.net If only I could get it to stay open I feel like this program would be able to format to a command line version of WBFS. or maybe even another program could do it for me.

Again, thanks a ton for the help, you're awesome

Ok I see it in the Other section so what are they refering to by format using a command line version of WBFS? What wrong with a normal WBFS format?

To me a command line in Windows is running something through the Run: option with switches.

I checked back at the site that seemed to recommend the tool (https://sites.google.com/site/comple.../wbfs-managers) and now realize it only says Wiimms is a "command line interface" WBFS manager not that it would necessarily format to "a command line version of WBFS"...whatever that is.

well, thanks for the help but it looks like we've hit a dead end...at least the issue has been clarified...it's not the program, it's wtf is a "command line version of WBFS"

Well the Command Line Interface (CLI) is something I've never needed to use with WBFS.

Sorry I can't help you much more.

ah that link helped me open wiimms...but i don't believe i can format with it

EDIT: Figured out how to format, but only to exFAT. Not sure if that's the only option or if there's a way to change what it formats to.
