    N00b spoonfeed, please?

Hello. Thanks for reading this.. Didn't expect many people too. Also thanks in advance for replying.

    Intro:
For first, I'm a Developer in my free time, but newb to Nintendo consoles.
    I bought a Nintendo Wii with 4.3e firmware(Europe version).
I would like to softmod it to play my own designed games (yes i do know about dolphin, but i want to try them on my wii console, since that's the purpose that i bought it for, I'm not using it for pirating games.)

So here is my newb question:
Is there anyway to hack it/softmod whatever, without actually bricking it? I heard of backups, but please, do a noob spoonfeed and give me link. Thanks. (I do know how to use a search engine, but you can't trust anyone nowadays, except one forum that has a section for wii modding.)
Also this is my first post.. second.. anyway.. But I'll be along here since i kinda needed a new home.

Well they say its easy to softmod a 4.3 now because of the introduction of LetterBomb. Now you shouldn't, I say shouldn't rather than never brick your Wii thats providing you follow the instructions to the letter.

First of you will need a 2GB SD card not a SDHC card that 4.3 can use, formatted to FAT32. Follow the instructions in the LetterBomb link and download the LetterBomb.zip, there are more intructions in the txt file in LetterBomb.zip.

How to do a NAND backup, install PriiLoader 0.7.

Now if you're a developer and you want to make your own Wii apps then you going to need someway of testing them. You may have a 4.3 now but what was it originally as the later ones won't play burnt games. You could burn your game to a disc and use NeoGamma R8 or R9 to play them.

I'm interested in making apps for the Wii. I've been making apps with VB for 15 years I fancied trying the Wii but I can find much info on the language only C\C++.

Its funny you should say that. I went on the LetterBomb site and typed in my MAC address just the download LetterBomb.zip to see what files were in it.

I've never had a LetterBomb message on my Wii either.

I've Googled this problem and it appears you have to format the SD card FAT32 and copy all the files from LetterBomb.zip to the card.

Put it in the Wii and goto messages and go back in the date you typed in the MAC address and the red envelope is there. Click it and softmod your Wii.

Formatting SD cards have been talked about recently. I've always formatted my SD card with Windows and never have a problem.

You can always Google SDformatter V2.0.
