First of we need to know the current Wii version your using and why you need to softmod it?

Then we can suggest areas to search for on here.

Use modmii from the downloads section this is a pc program that after answering a few questions about your wii, same ones as keith asked pretty much. You choose full softmod with instructions and this will download all the files you need and write you a tutorial on how to do it.

No problem mate but we get noobs who are new to wii modding but can flash an xbox and noobs who are very computer literate and noobs who think they don't know anything about anything but actually know more than they think...........That said,,,what part do you need help with, we are quite happy to do a complete walkthrough on this forum but most people prefer to try it themselves and jump back in when they get stuck....It is a lot easier than you think it is going to be, if it is the wording you are ot sure about put down a list of what you would like translated and we will break it up into smaller more manageable chunks

Just be sure to do a nand backup and install priiloader. Now we don't know how old your wii is but if you get the option install bootmii into boot2 and as an ios if it's a newer wii you will only get the ios option which makes priiloader even more important. Once you get your head round what the different parts mean it's not difficult and modmii has made that bit a whole lot easier.

First of to softmod a 4.3 use LetterBomb and do a NAND backup straight afterwards. NAND backup

The ModMii in the download section is 4.3.4 so download ModMii 5.1.1 if you want to use that.

You need to install a load of wads so use Multi-Mod Manager v13.4 in the apps folder on the SD card. Along with IOS36 v3608 plus IOS58-64v6175

Then you need to install PriiLoader 0.7 to block online and disc updates plus you can do a few more tweaks with it.

You want to use a USB Loader so use USB Loader GX there are forwarders in that site so you can have a channel on the Wii menu.

Now all the USB Loaders need cIOS249 to work so you may as well install all the wads in d2x v7 Final put them all in the wad folder on the SD card and installed them with MMM.

Its also useful to have sysCheck in the apps folder on the SD card so you can check which IOS's are being used. You can also use the sysCheck.csv in ModMii to check for newer wad updates.

The final thing is you need a suitable external hard drive preferably a mains powered drive of a suitable size to hold loads of games 500MB. Not all hard drives are suitable. USB Compatibility List

Then you should be up and running. Now I've tried to explain this guide as simple as possible but if there is anything you don't understand please ask before cocking things up?

leaving the sd card in is normal
for keep booting into mmm try renaming the bootmii folder to bootmii old if that dont work hold the reset button in while powering on the wii and you will enter priiloader hopefully from there access priiloader settings and make sure return to system menu is selected then save selection and try rebooting.

How come you have to rename the [bootmii] folder on 4.3?

Mine is still on there and mine boots to the Wii menu.

If he has PriiLoader installed then I would check the boot option in there if its booting to MMM.

Yours doesn't auto boot to bootmii if the bootmii folder is not renamed because you don't have bootmii as boot2 only as ios

True but on a 4.3 you can't install BootMii to boot2, we are both using 4.3.
