    Mod Wii with Letterbomb etc

Hi just tried to help my froend with his Wii 4.3E, we ran letterbomb all went well and then ran through the various things thorugh mod mii. everything seems ok although we did ask it to convert to red theme and it must have missed this.
Anyway plays normal games fine, when we put in a back up game (via disc),it comes up, click start then an error message, power off and eject disc.

Have i missed something simple? or will it not work with Discs only HDD?

its a white Wii not a new one on 4.3E

    cheers

put your serial number in here Wii Drive Chip Database as long as your drive is not a D3-2 you will be able to use discs if it is then hdd is the only option. By the way hdd is the prefered option for a number of reasons. Most importantly is the wii can only read dvd-r at 3x speed while an original disc is read at 6x speed so you may experience some lag and you will definately have problems loading ghostbusters (this requires you to have very precise timing with the eject button)

Your talking about playing burnt games?

As HH says the newer Wii's won't play burnt games.

So you softmoded ok you did all 3 stages and you did a NAND backup NAND backup which is the first job after softmodding and installed PriiLoader 0.7.

ok will get him to check the drive, i did mine fine but it was running 3.2 and runs discs although with lag on some, going to change to USB loader soon.

yes always do a nand back-up Keith, as per the instructions.

is it on the wii itself the drive number?

        thanks

            ok it came up with

            • There is a 75% chance the chipset is GC2-D2B (no cut pins or missing pad).
            • And there is also a 25% chance the chipset is GC2R-D2A.

If it was a 3.2 then it should play burnt discs.

Are you using NeoGamma R8 or R9?

sorry i am confusing things now, my one was a 3.2 and it works fine with disc playback. My friends was a 4.3E before we softmodded it.

Did it tell you year of manufacture, if it's before 2008 then it will support dvd as they didn't launch the new chipset until the black wii was released.

My 2009 white Wii won't play burnt games so it doesn't have to be a black one.
