    4.3 Nintendo System Update

    Hi,

I wonder if someone can provide some guidance on what I need to do..

Have been running with HBC for a couple of years now with an external USB drive and USB Loader GX. All was working well until my son brought Skylanders and we could not get it to run unless we did a system update. I updated HBC before taking the plunge and did the system update to 4.3E. He can now run skylanders from the Disk as would be expected and the HBC is still present, however when we try and launch Usb Loader GX it just gives a black screen as do all the other apps that were on the SD card.

Can anyone advise the best/easiest way to get USBloader GX running again so he can use the usb drive again?

Thanks in advance for any advise that you can give.

Are you sure it updated to 4.3 because if it did then you would have lost everything including Homebrew?

If you say the Homebrew channel is still there then you need to post a sysCheck report as instructed in that link.

You really need to install PriiLoader 0.7 to block any online and disc updates.

      Thanks Keith,

Just ran Syscheck from HBC and just about to post results on syscheck link. Unit is definately running 4.3E and HBC is def still running as I could get to Syscheck. Latest version of Usbloader GX gets further as it finds the USB drive and lists all the details, however when trying to run anything it brings you back to the HBC menu again.

Tried installing Pri loader and gave an error message about something not being patched. Obviously something not quite right.

As I say posting results of syscheck now and will await feedback as to what I should do next. Otherwise I was going to try runing Modmii to try and update everything.

      Thanks so far.

you still have softmod but the rest is bolloxed you have way to many stubbed out ios and hbc is installed into the wrong ios now. download Digital Kaos - Downloads - ModMii6.0.7.rar and select full softmod wizard then follow the instructions...You only have to start following the tutorial from where you install hbc this should get it onto ios 58 and sort out the rest of the wads.

Thanks. Ran modmii against my syscheck followed wizard guide and all working again.

Installed preloaded and blocked disk and online updates.

Thanks for your help and advice.

You don't need to run ModMii Wizard now you've done a sysCheck just type in SU (sysCheck Updater) and type the location of sysCheck.csv. Let it download the missing or updated wads into the COPY_TO_SD sub folder and add them to the SD card. Install IOS236-v5-Mod then use Multi-Mod Manager goto WAD Manager and install the wads you've just added from ModMii.

You need to remove most of the stubbed wads by installing newer versions over the top.

Homebrew Channel 1.1.0 running on IOS37

Thats strange its using IOS37? I've seen older Wii's use IOS61 then the newer ones use IOS58.

                  IOS254 (rev 65281): BootMii - is normal.

Oh you may as well download the d2x v8.0 final wad pack because ModMii only adds

                  cIOS249[56]-d2x-v8-final.wad and cIOS250[57]-d2x-v8-final.wad

Do another sysCheck afterwards and post the results.

Keith thanks. I did run the modmii with the SU option and did just as you said. Updated all, ran bootmii and managed to take a nand backup and installed priloader to stop the disk and online updates.

Now all is back working. Is it anything to worry about that HBC is running on IOS37? Also what will d2x v8.0 final wad pack give me on top of what I have running?

These tools and guides are awesome.

                    Thanks

I told you to run the full wizard not the update so that hbc would be changed to ios 58. The required ios for all new loaders and homebrew apps to work properly. If you choose to follow bad advice instead of good I'll let you and keith carry on. I recommend things be done for a reason not just because I want too.

Why would the full wizard do anything if Homebrew is already installed?

My advise should have worked perfectly.

Full wizard allows you to reinstall hbc to the correct ios the syscheck update only checks ios versions not what is installed into them. He was advised to start following the full wizard tut at the point where hbc gets installed as he still had the exploit intact.....He can still go back and run the full wizard and just install over the top but the problem he will now have is that as the cios are already correct hbc may not install into ios 58 first time round so he will have to go through the whole wizard until he gets to the bottom and is asked if hbc is still not on the correct ios and reinstall it at that point again. It will then be on ios58. He may be lucky and only have to install hbc but I would be prepared to do the whole thing again to reduce the chance of errors in the future. A new nand backup will also be required as the existing nand backup has hbc installed into ios 37 which is still safe on this version but may not be in future inadvertantly causing a full brick if accidentally updated.

If the games asking you to update for multiplayer are cod then the updates are game updates not system updates and are safe, they area also required for online play as you have found out. I am having to second guess you as you haven't included the names of the games you are having trouble with
