Is it possible to "Jailbreak" a new wii?

Hello guys, im all new into nintendo wii. I have been thinking to buy a new nintendo wii (which probably have the latest firmware version? or what it's called)

Anyway, i dont know what you call it when you "jailbreak" or mod the nintendo wii, but if i buy a new nintendo wii, is it possible to mod it so i can download and put games on my external hdd?

I know that there is several post on this forum on how to do it, but i don't know what to search since im all new to this

    Thanks in advance =D

    Welcome to DK.

Well as far as I know the newest verion is 4.3 Wii system software so you can "jailbreak" as you call it which means softmod with LetterBomb there are plenty of tutorials for adding the USB Loaders on here.

If your thinking of a Wii U these have been talked about on here, I believe they can be softmodded but its not as easy.

That would depend on the Wii FW version and there is enough tutorials on here, just search and read

                After its softmodded this thread

will help you with the wads you need to install so you can use USB Loaders and an external USB hard drive.

So all i need is letterbomb and usb loader?
                  Don't i need homebrew channel?

And one more question: What if i mod My Wii and after it somehow updates, i've that your wii will be bricked.
Is there a way where i can prevent it from updating??

letterbomb installs the home brew channel, installs bootmii and allows you to prepare your sd card to do a nand back up.

you will also need to install priiloader

If something would mess up the wii, could you restore your wii?

You need to softmod your Wii with LetterBomb as suggested before you can install all the wads necessary for the USB Loaders. As bowie says you need to do all 3 processes.

                        1. Install Hombebrew.
                        2. Install BootMii.
                        3. Prepare SD card - so you can do a NAND backup straight after the softmod. This will allow you to restore the Wii NAND back to near original if do things wrong and brick your Wii.

You also need to install PriiLoader 0.7 to block any online or disc updates. If you did brick your Wii then the only way back to BootMii to restore the NAND is through PriiLoader.

                          which WADS is recommended??

I know that Priiloader is one (thanks to you guys)
I've been watching on youtube some tutorial and i found one that was recorded from last year [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dO2-Tho3wvk"]This Video[/ame] (he have 3 parts) and he have put a hack pack that he used, and i have noticed that some of his WADS are old like the priiloader which he use is 0.4. Anyway can i still use them or do i need to renew all of them?

I've also noticed something called IOS249. Is there any other IOS i should be aware of, or is this the one i should use?
Also in his pack there is like a thousands of IOS like the IOS249, so right now im pretty stuck what i should do next.

That isn't a good video for softmodding like everything on YouTube you take with a pinch of salt.

It also shows you how to install PriiLoader 0.4 well PriiLoader 0.7 has been out for 18 months so he is way behind the times. As I said you take YouTube video's with a pinch of salt. He is also using Mult-Mod Manager 13.2 when MMM 13.4 has been out for well over 18 months. The date on that site shows Sept 2010.

I hate repeating myself but as I've said you need to softmod the Wii first then you can install all the wads necessary to work the USB Loaders.

That video said you need a 2GB SD card OR SDHC card thats bull as it will only softmod with a 2GB SD card. After its softmodded you can use the larger SDHC cards to store all the app, settings, game pictures.

After its softmodded and you've done the NAND backup you can install all the wads necessary to run USB Loaders. There are plenty of threads on here that show you what wads are needed like.

Another app you need to add to the SD card is sysCheck that will show you which wads have been installed and which are missing. You can post a full report as instructed in that link.

Thank you for the reply Keith, so if im not wrong, i need to first install homebrew channel with help of letterbomb,
After that the WADs that i need is:
                              priiloader 0.7
                              MMH 13.4
                              USB Loader GX
                              CFG USB Loader
                              WiiFlow

My question is how to install the IOS? Which one specifik? Why do i ask?
Well as i've seen there is like more that 50 different IOS
