    Next step for wii noob

Hi all, i've gone through some steps to softmod my wii console, I've installed homebrew and letterbomb, the steps I followed were obtained from here,

The Homebrew Channel is the main weapon in the arsenal. It puts the Wii into a state where it waits to load a boot.dol/elf of your choice, which is basically a program a developer writes (kind of like a .exe for Windows). These programs can range from playing media off your Wii, installing and

I tried a backup disc, sd card and flash drive with no joy, it doesn't give me any options that I can see to play games from anywhere but the disc drive, but I can't get discs to work, I'm assuming to play from a flash drive I need to install some other patches, can someone point me in the right direction? It's a little confusing for me. In my homebrew channel I only have 5 options which are = Back, about, launch bootmii, exit to system menu and shutdown. Launch bootmii causes it to lock up and the disc slot just flashes, if I turn it off and back on it's fine though, also, the original discs play just fine.

    Cheers.

As I've said before that site is 18 months old.

What you need to do first is post a sysCheck report as intructed in that link so we can see what you've installed.

The reason Homebrew only shows the 5 options is because you have no apps that run in the apps folder on the SD card.

As I've said many times before.

Well your sysCheck is a typical Wii thats only been softmodded with 17 stubs which you have to knock down to about 5.

You need to download ModMii 2.4 and run it from Windows. Now you have the sysCheck.csv file from the sysCheck which will be on the root of the SD card you can choose the SU option from the main menu. Type in the location of sysCheck.csv.

This will download all files into COPY_TO_SD sub folder. Add all files and folders to your SD card and run Homebrew with the SD card inserted. ModMii only adds 2 d2x v8.0 wads so install all 7 wads from d2x v8.0 final wad pack after you've added them to the wad folder on the SD card.

Run IOS236 installer from Homebrew first to install IOS36 into IOS236, you must do this before you install any other wads. Come back out then run Multi-Mod Manager and select WAD Manager and install all wads in that folder. As I've said I've posted this method in many threads on here if you read them.

You can run sysCheck again and post a new sysCheck report afterward installing all the wads.

Oh after you've installed all those wads download PriiLoader 0.7 add that to the SD card and run it to block online and disc updates.

That sysCheck looks ok now. Everything should work ok without it but if you want to remove IOS16 stub then download my http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...9/#post1807800 cIOS16-v257.zip and add it to the wad folder and install that wad with MMM.

Disc channel which disc are you using and did you disable online and disc updates in PriiLoader? The http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...hannel-312488/ might say it needs a system update.

Thanks mate. I ran priiloader again and couldn't see any disable options, the boy had left his Fifa 11 disc in, when I took it out the update disappeared, is there a way to cancel the update if it comes back on? Also, if I'm playing games from a flash drive do I need a usb loader installed? If so, which is best. Thanks again.

Now you have PriiLoader installed you can just press the Reset button to access it. Watch this video to see how to disable disc updates with PriiLoader 0.7. Select System Menu Hacks, scroll down to Block Disc Updates and press the 'A' button so it says enabled. Scroll down to Block Online Updates and press 'A' so it says enabled. Then scroll down to Save Settings and press 'A'. Then press the 'B' button to move back then Exit to System Menu to finish.

In PriiLoader I enable the Auto-Press 'A' at Health Screen.

Its easier to run games of a hard drive or USB flash drive with USB Loader GX installed on the SD card.

When you get a bigger mains powered USB hard drive you can install the FIFA 11 disc install the game to the hard drive. Put the disc in run USB Loader GX and click on the small + button bottom left to install the game to the hard drive. This will take a few minutes but you will save the game so it can't get damaged, and it should ask you to update.

Ok, Everything on, gx loader coming on, it appears to recognise the flash drive, and I did put an iso file on, but it doesn't show up. But when I try to mount the image in poweriso, it fails, so it could be corrupt. However, it could be just me doing it wrong (again), I dragged and dropped the iso onto the flash drive, should I be using a different method? Should I format the drive (it's NTFS)? So many questions, so little time. Sorry to be a pain in the arse BTW.

What do you mean when you say mount? PowerISO is no good for Wii ios files you need ImgBurn they normally burn Wii DVD's using this method at a slow speed.

I tried add a few games to my spare drive over Christmas. I formatted the drive NTFS and only the newer USB Loader will read NTFS drives. I made a game and wbfs folders on the drive. Now I read somewhere along time ago that the filenames have to be the Wii game ID and a title. I renames a few iso files and added them to the game folder. I added a few wbfs files to the wbfs folder. I tried it in the Wii it would only see the wbfs files which played.

When you add games to a FAT32 or NTFS drive you make a wbfs folder and add the wbfs file in there, but you have to change the filename to the Wii game ID. You need to convert the iso to a wbfs formatted file as well. Wii Backup Manager will do this for you.

I use WBFS Manager and its always worked great.

Yeah, I had a search around and stumbled across a youtube vid of some fella showing you how to convert with WBFS manager, damn, makes it so easy. Still getting my head round it but I'm getting there, I'll work it out.
