Help, my wii has been packed away for a couple of years and now the kids want it

I have a wii, which has a old chip in it which was wired chip in it, i am sure its a old wiikey
Then i soft modded it to play newer games on top of this.

It is now saying its 4.1E

The kids want to play games and use netflix

for netflix it wants a system update, so i have not done this.

how can i get it upto date for home-brews from usb again, with new channels like netflix

Welcome to DK Dan.

If your Wii hasn't been softmodded before you can softmodded it without effecting the chip you have installed.

Its 4.1E I would recommend you have a web connection on it then do a system update to 4.3E then you can softmod it with LetterBomb There are plenty of instruction how to get USB external drives working on here.

Netflix is available on the new Shopping channel I don't know how good it is I've never installed it.

You can dismantle your Wii and remove the old wired chip if you want to.

Yes the wii is soft modded, i did it for a game i think super mario bros as my chip didn't work with that game at the time.

i have just read the letter bomb and it seems to simple.

Is 4.3 the latest wii firmware?

So i could just update and instal letterbomb on my wii?

I dont want to remove the old chip as i paid to have it installed, my skills are with soldiering are zero.
I fitted a few push in chips for friends i wish mine was now.

First of post a sysCheck19 as instructed in that link so we can see which IOS's you have installed.

As I said I think you can leave the chip mod as it shouldn't interfere with the softmod. From what I've seen some chips just plug in so they can be removed easily.

You wouldn't be able to upgrade it to 4.3 if PriiLoader 0.7 is installed to block online and disc updates.
