    WiiMC and updates

    Hi guys.

I don't know if any of you use WiiMC? I've used it in the past and it works quite well for playing DVD's. Since I've softmodded my new Wii I downloaded the new update WiiMC Updates. I added the update to the SD card and I have WiiMC on the Wii menu. I click on it and click on the logo top right and it says there is a new update available. I click on install update and it downloads and unzips it says installed ok then goes back to the Wii menu. I start it again it always shows the current version as 1.0.6 but the latest version is 1.3.2 which I added initially.

What a load of rubbish when it shows an update, it downloads and installs it but it still shows 1.0.6.

As anyone tried WiiMC and let it update?

Ok no replies to this thread.

I did install wiimc106.wad which is the WiiMC forwarder channel with MMM. When I run it, as I said it shows 1.0.6 in the properties as the name suggests. I ran WiiMC form HBC that that shows v1.3.2 which I added to the card not problem.

Ok I downloaded WiiMC Channel Installer 1.9 and added it to the SD card. I removed the old WiiMC channel from Wii Channels and ran the WiiMC Channel Installer from HBC. I click to install and it comes back with a message it wouldn't install.

I tried to install it a couple of times but it said installation failed so I put back wiimc106.wad. I tried it one more time and it said uninstall channel so it must have seen the old wiimc106. I uninstalled it in Wii Channels and went back and installed it again. It installed this time and it works and shows v1.3.2. These Wii's are worse than computers.

I even joined that WiiMC site to ask about this problem. Its another stupid site that wants a 10 character password.

So at the moment problem solved.

Googling around for this problem I read that generally you need HBC 1.0.8 or above. You will need to update to 4.3 or install IOS58 Installer for WiiMC to work. It also uses IOS202 which is available in Full Cios wad pack thats if any of you guys are thinking about trying it. WiiMC documentation

When I softmodded my Wii I use LetterBomb. After its up and running and you exit HBC it shows the HBC version number top right 1.1.0. I've seen some sysCheck reports on here that show HBC 1.1.2 I've Google for this but there is nothing diffinate comes back. They say that when you use HBC it will check if there are newer updates you can install. I don't know if this 1.1.2 is a beta version under test. Homebrew Channel

Hackmii Installer v1.2 shows The Homebrew Channel 1.1.2

From what I can make out the version number in the top right when you exit HBC is the HBC version number as I've said. I've also seen 1.1.2 in sysChecks so how did they install it. I know there are HackMii_Installer which you can get from ModMii but if you add it to the SD card and run it from HBC there is no info or version number so its not worth risking to me. Just wait until there is an official update from HBC then use that.

I was at my friends house at the weekend. I decided to update his Shopping channel because I know he has MMM on the SD card. I clicke on Manage Wii Channels in MMM and clicked to install the Shopping channel but it said installation failed, Network not Initialised. I came back to the Wii menu then I thied it again. This time it started counting down the 1/18 download and at abou 9 it stopped and failed again.

Now when I've updated the game pictures in USB Loader GX it does take along time after stalling/stopping for along time. You have to switch off and start it again.

I've checked his connection settings in Wii Settings and it tests out ok.

          Further update:

I put in a genuine DVD and click on the disc it says DVD playback is not supported on this Wii.

Now I know I've played DVD's before else why would I bother with the WiiMC channel and leave it on the SD card? So I put back the old version which was 1.1.8 and tried to play the same DVD it just came back with DVD error. I tried MPlayer CE which played DVD's before but it wasn't as good as WiiMC and that wouldn't play the DVD either.

These DVD players aren't that important as the facilities aren't as good as a proper DVD player. So I will forget this option.
