[Noob Alert, Please Help] USB Loader GX will not recognize my USB Flash Drive.

I'm new to softmodding my wii and for some reason whenever I launch USB Loader GX it doesn't read my USB drive. I'm using a 16gb Flash Drive in FAT32 Partition. Yesterday it was reading my USB fine but the problem started today. I didn't do anything to the USB Drive or Wii since then. The only time that USB Loader GX will recognize my USB Drive is if there are no games on it, Just the wbfs folder. CFG also freezes. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Welcome to DK.

I don't see anything wrong in the sysCheck.

We had another user trying to use a 16GB flash drive. http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...5/#post2023452

As I said in there flash drive aren't really suitable as they aren't but enough. Get yourself a compatible mains powered external USD hard drive.

What are you using to add the games to the flash drive?

Well, it's been weird. I've had to convert my ISO file to WBFS using Wii Backup Manager then transfer them to my Flash Drive. Whenever I tried using Wii Backup Manager to transfer them directly it would freeze at 99.99%.

Also, which IOS should I be running, 236 or 249?

I tried Wii Backup Manager on a spare drive just to see if its better or quicker than WBFS Manager. It just converts an iso to wbfs and adds it to the wbfs folder with a filename the same as the game ID number. I've always used and still use WBFS Manager and I use WiiGameConverter_GXS to convert wbfs to iso.

I tried a 4GB flash drive one day with WBFS Manager and that would only hold 4 games but it worked ok. I had to choose 4 games that compressed the smallest. The games all worked ok.

USB Loaders generally use IOS249 but some games need to use IOS250 but you can change which IOS it uses in the game settings providing that IOS number is installed. When you download USB Loader GX where are different IOS versions you can download IOS222, IOS249 and IOS250. I've always used IOS249 and it works.

Do you use a Forwarder Channel so the USB Loader is on the Wii menu?

When I downloaded USB Loader GX I downloaded 249. Also I updated my IOS249 [56] to d2x-v10 r52. I have no idea what a forwader channel is but I did install a wad that put USB loader on the Wii Menu.

Wouldn't using WBFS Manager require you to format your drive to WBFS?

            I wouldn't update IOS249 [56] to d2x-v10 r52 as v10 is a beta version stick to v8.

If your not using Forwarder Channel then your accessing USB Loader GX through Homebrew. If you download USB Loader GX-UNEO_Forwarder_5_1_AHBPROT.wad just put that in the wad folder on the SD card and install it with MMM.

In MMM when you select WAD Manager that defaults to the wad folder. Scroll down until you see USB Loader GX-UNEO_Forwarder_5_1_AHBPROT.wad and press the small + button that will put a green + next to that file. Just press 'A' to install it. On the next screen it will only show that 1 wad file press 'A' again to install it, watch for the Installed OK message. Press the 'B' button to back out then press the Home button to go back the Homebrew. Exit Homebrew and you now have the USB Loader GX Forwarder Channel on the Wii menu.

Yes using WBFS Manager you have to format the drive to wbfs. You problem is yours isn't working we need to find out why. So format it wbfs and add one game onto it to see if it works.

Alrighty, I'll do all that and reply when I have. Also, Which IOS should MMM show I'm using?

Another thing, I've been using a 4gb SDHC card to load apps and wads onto my wii, could that be a reason why this is happening?

Whenever I tried converting a wbfs file to an ISO file I get this error
              Converter Error.jpg

Well I never get that error. Where ever you extracted these files too and you run WiiGameConverter.exe that download all the other files. wbfs_file.exe should be in the tools folder along with UnRAR.exe and wget.exe. Download it again and try it.

MMM doesn't show any IOS your using is only installs them. SysCheck will tell you which IOS's you've installed.

Thank you so much for your help, I've got it working for now but I have a few more questions though.

What exactly is a Forwarder Channel? If I install one, does the SD card still need to be inserted?
Whenever I go to MMM the bottom option shows something about IOS. What does that part mean then?
How can I reduce the file size of the games on my Flash Drive? I only have 3 games on it now but they're taking up 12 gb. The games are SSBB, Mario Kart Wii, and Super Mario Galaxy.
Since I formatted my Flash drive to WBFS can I still use it to play GC Games? I already have Dios Mios installed.

A Forwarder Channel is like a Windows short-cut thats runs and app of the SD card, you do need the SD card inserted. It saves you running Homebrew and finding the app and running it from there.

In MMM the IOS Manager just shows a list of all the IOS's that are installed. If you move along each one it will tell you what/which app uses that IOS.

You can't make the game files smaller. When you use Wii Backup Manager that just converts an iso to a wbfs file and adds it to the drive. When you use WBFS Manager and you Browse for iso file and it loads one you will see 2 file sizes top right. The iso size which is about 4.36GB and the one next to it is the size it will take on the drive. This can vary alot thats the size when its on the drive as a wbfs file.

I don't bother with GC games but I wouldn't that thought so because you can't add them to e wbfs formatted drive.

As I've said find yourself a compatible mains powered USB hard drive.

I'm not surprised as you have 17 IOS's that are stub. As posted many times.

As you may have read on here that's a typical sysCheck of a Wii that's only been softmodded as you have 17 IOS's that are Stub. You need to reduce that 17 down to 4 or 5.

Download ModMii6.3.1 and run ModMii.exe from Windows. Use the SU option from the main menu and find the location of the sysCheck.csv from the sysCheck which is on the root of the SD card. That will download all missing wads and apps to COPY_TO_SD sub folder just add all files and folders to the SD card.

ModMii only installed 2 d2x v8.0 wads download d2x v8 Final wad pack and put these in the wad folder on the SD card, install all 7 wads when you install the other wads.

Put the SD card back in the Wii and run Homebrew. Run IOS236 Installer v5 Mod from HBC first before you install any other wads. Multi Mod Manager (MMM) should be the first app listed select it and load it. Once running scroll down to WAD Manager and press 'A' that will default to all wads in the wad folder. If you want to install all wads shown just press 1 that will list all wads you want to install press 'A' again to install them all.

Watch for the Installed OK message after each one. If any don't say that message make a note of the wad name and back out. Scroll down to the wad that didn't install and press the + button the put a green + next to it then press 'A' to see that wads name listed then press 'A' to install again.

If you have to update to 4.3 then the Shopping Channel may not work. If it doesn't without doing another system update don't bother just install my RVL-Shopping-21

Do another sysCheck to make sure everything installed correctly and post that.

Then you just have a to find a compatible mains powered USB hard drive to add your games onto and download USB Loader GX 3.0 to run them.

So are games working now? You haven't posted a new sysCheck so I can see the update?
