is it safe to install .wad files?

done a bit of research on the twilight hack and see its possible to download VC games in .wad format and install them to the wii via an SD card.

was just wondering is it actually safe to do this? can nintendo find out?

as when you go to VC section in shopping it tells you what games u have already downloaded

Ive heard that nintendo will put a patch on their next game so that you can?t play the games you have downloaded and not payed for....
its safe so far though, as long as you read the instructions and follow them....
