    Wii Softmod not working

    Hi all,

    Could someone plz help.

Got a black nintendo wii and softmodded with letter bomb 4.2E, now this is what happened my little sister aged 16 wanted to play wii resort so I let her.

She put the disc in and now tells me that she could'nt play it while it said it needed updating so she went on and did it. (updated to 4.3E)

Now my Wiiflow and USBLOADER does not work but HomeBrew channell is still there and loads fine just cant play any games off my usb like i could before.

Is there any fix for this?, also the wii can play as normal through discs.

    Regards Lee

you need to softmod it again, updating the wii removes all homebrew applications

        Welcome to DK Lee.

Well when you softmodded the first time you didn't install PriiLoader 0.7 so what do you expect if she does a system update. Add it to the SD card and run it from Homebrew and set it to block online and disc updates, you can turn off the 'A' safety prompt on startup I do.

Just softmod it again with LetterBomb.

Hi there Keithuk, Did as you said and put priiloader in the app folder and installed priiloader through HBC then powered down wii and held the reset button to start priiloader as it did not reset itself, then in priiloader settings I cant set anything? all it says is "can't find file File on SD card or Nand"?. But why have I got this far? must be doing something wrong?.

Have I missed anything out? #

What do I need to do to get this to work, on ios249 if thats any good.

First of I have seen a sysCheck of you. Download sysCheck19 report as instructed I that link so I can see which IOS's you've installed.

While you install PriiLoader watch the screen it may say can't find hacks.ini file even though its on the SD card root and in the apps\PriiLoader folder. Just power the Wii OFF then back ON then install PriiLoader again. There is another hacks_hash.ini that is normally in both locations. Then jus press the ReSet button for a few seconds and PriiLoader should run.

You need to follow what I've posted hundreds of times on here.

Download ModMii6.3.1 and run ModMii.exe from Windows. Use the SU option from the main menu and find the location of the sysCheck.csv from the sysCheck which is on the root of the SD card. That will download all missing wads and apps to COPY_TO_SD sub folder just add all files and folders to the SD card.

ModMii only installed 2 d2x v8.0 wads download d2x v8 Final wad pack and put these in the wad folder on the SD card, install all 7 wads when you install the other wads.

Put the SD card back in the Wii and run Homebrew. Run IOS236 Installer v5 Mod first before you install any other wads. Multi Mod Manager (MMM) should be the first app listed select it and load it. Once running scroll down to WAD Manager and press 'A' that will default to all wads in the wad folder. If you want to install all wads shown just press 1 that will list all wads you want to install press 'A' again to install them all.

Watch for the Installed OK message after each one. If any don't say that message make a note of the wad name and back out. Scroll down to the wad that didn't install and press the + button the put a green + next to it then press 'A' to see that wads name listed then press 'A' to install again.

Download PriiLoader 0.7 add it to the SD card and run it from Homebrew and set it to block online and disc updates, you can turn off the 'A' safety prompt on startup I do.

If you have to update to 4.3 then the Shopping Channel may not work. If it doesn't without doing another system update don't bother just install my RVL-Shopping-21

Do another sysCheck to make sure everything installed correctly and post that.

Then you just have a to find a compatible mains powered USD hard drive to add your games onto and download USB Loader GX 3.0 to run them.

Yes that's a typical Wii that's only been softmodded because you have 17 IOS's that are Stub you need to drop that down to 4 or 5 by following the instructions in post #7.

                  Does PriiLoader now work?

Hi keithuk, Still priiloader does not work fully.

It still will not let me view the "system menu hacks" but everything else is fine in the priiloader menu.

Still get the error msg "Can't find hacks_hacks.ini on FAT device, Can't find hacks_hacks.ini on Nand" when trying to access system menu hacks.

In the PriiLoader link I gave you does it have 2 ini files, hacks.ini, hacks_hash.ini?

If they aren't download them from mine. PriiLoader_0.7_with_ini_files

Now there a bit of confusion where these go, some say on the SD card root and some say in apps/PriiLoader folder, just leave them in both places to be sure.

Have you got the Stubs down to 4 or 5?

Hi there Keithuk, Followed your advice on Priiloader file placement and its running as it should and I disabled the CD/Online updates like you said. Hit a stumbling block and that is I get as far as to put all the missing wads modmii6 told me that I had then it put them on the SD card then I put those wads into the SD card that had 4 WADS in, then the remaining in the WADS folder.

I suppose this is due to not seeing MMM in the HBC.

I seem to have got lost on route some where a long the way.

Sorry for being a bit thick, I work very long hours.

                        Regards Lee

Well Lee as I said if you follow the instructions I gave you in post #7 you shouldn't have had any problems installing any wads. You must install IOS236 Installer v5 Mod first from HBC before you install any other wads. Then run Multi Mod Manager (MMM) from HBC install all other wads.

When you have finished do another sysCheck and it should look like mine. sysCheck #MKWDueNa with may be IOS16 still being Stub, if you want to remove that Stub just install my cIOS16-v257

Ok had a rare day off yesterday got plenty of rest just to get this sorted.

Now I followed post #7 to the letter and did not resolve the issue.

Now I have done this several times with the same result which is starting to tell me that it maybe something else, and not just me doing or following instructions wrong.

Below is the syscheck (update) after I have followed instruction: obviously there has been some change but not enough to fix the issue:

Ok No Stubs there so what step shall I take now? to get the Wiiflow and USBloader Working again.

Another option maybe is to completely restore the Wii to factory settings?.

If you think it can't be resolved in the next couple of post then I'll have to give it up as a lost cause and see how far I can throw a WII, and thank Keithuk for your time and patience.

                            Regards Lee
