    Softmodding a Wii - clarification

Just got myself a Wii off ebay yesterday for the kids, came with a SD card and a few rubbish games. I was all up for buying the odd game here and there, just the nice new ones to have a small collection but i've been reading up on soft modding it.

if i was to do it, i want it easy to use as possible so the kids/wife can put it on and not for me to worry about them not being able to get it working.

reading here : http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...t-zelda-40768/ and also here : http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...t-zelda-42940/ it doesn't sound too difficult - depending on the version. Mine's an old one but i updated the firmware last night but it looks like it can be downgraded fairly straighforwardly - is there a specific firmware thats best to be used?

Also, this sound much better than burning disks : http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...-loader-34586/ - i'm guessing you can download the ISO's then convert them to WBFS files then chuck them onto the HD - is that right? once u have the homebrew channels/bannerbomb stuff installed. from what i've read, you can have the games installed as channels too can't you?

Do u have to check the games using the Wii Update Manager to check if they need updating with every game?

Thanks for any info. it's nice starting with a fresh, virgin
wii that i have no experience with - it's going to be fun getting ti going.

Soft mod for dummies is for version 3 and up and V4 is for version 4 and up there straight forward enough but reading on peoples feedback is recommended i dont use the usb loader so cant comment on that. Check what version you have and look in the threads then. I recommended to turn off wiiconnect. In the softmod for dummies there is a patcher that convert the games to be able to play them but very few games dont work games dont work
