USBLoader wornt recognise USB HDD but accepts USB Sd Card ?

Hi guys, looking for some help (complete noob at softmod but IT literate!)

Used ModMii to hack my Wii last week - all went well, and at the time I used a 2GB SD card as the internal SD, and an 8GB SD Card in a generic USB converter as the HDD. This works well and I can launch titles and play the ok on the USB SD Card (fromatted FAT).

I purchased a 160GB 2.5 SATA HD and put it in a generic case to use in place of the 8GB SD Card - formatted FAT32 with 32K clusters, and copied over the files from the SD card. However the Will wont recognise the Hard Disk - launching USBLoader gives the splash screen, then a black screen, then the rolling wii symbols and back to main menu.

I realise that the HD may genuinely not be compatible (it only cost me ?6 on AVFORUMS so no big loss) but before I write it off I wondered if someone can suggest anything I coult try and check.change ?

    Syscheck is :

I haven't been on here for a week as the site with a 404 File Not found hasn't been available for maintenance, I changed the link now I can find this section.

There isn't much wrong with that sysCheck. If you want to remove that IOS16 Stub then install my cIOS16-v257 this link doesn't show now so I've added it to this thread.

ModMii only installed 2 d2x v8.0 wads download d2x v8 Final wad pack and put these in the wad folder on the SD card, install all 7 wads.

Invest in a compatible mains powered HDD.

      Thanks,

I'll give it a try - seems to work ok from a 32GB memory stick (copied contents of 8GB SD Card including 3 games in wbfs folder), until I add any new games with WiiBackupManager into the wbfs folder at which point the games hand during launching or when downloading covers for the new games).

I'll apply your suggested updates and try again.

BTW, what is the IOS16 used for ?

If you look in Multi Mod Manager (MMM) that will show a list of all wads and their functions.

IOS16 - Mothballed, v257 from Wii Pink Fish Backup Disc, used for downgrade hacks.

Thanks, Really frustrated now. games that were on original 8GB SD Card work fine on 32GB memory stick (after appplying the WADs you suggested), but new ones added dont run and I cant even donload the artwork for them onto the 32GB USB key. It almost as if its operating read only ?

Well if USB Loader GX doesn't download the game pics I use http://www.wiiboxart.com/pal.php you either search for the game name or game ID number.

I still say you need a mains powered HDD as SD cards and flash drive don't have enough room even if you buy the expensive large ones.

Thanks, setting up a spare will to leave at my dads for the kids, so just wanted to put about 20 games on, so a 32GB card should be fine - dont want the expense of an external 3.5" Hard disk if I can avoid it ...
