USB Loader 1.5 - where am I going wrong?

    Hi

I'm on a steep learning curve with all things wii.

I have managed to softmod my wii and I have HB channel loaded.

I have installed cIOS38 rev14. Firmware has been updated to 4.1.

I wish to utilise USB Loader 1.5.

I have an old laptop hdd in a case which I formatted to FAT32.

I have used WBFS Manager 3.0 to convert this drive to WBFS.
    - i noticed this took a couple of seconds to do 40GB, normal?

I put a copy of Guitar Hero 5 on there too.
    - took 20 minutes to unrar and move across to USB drive.

At this point I can see that the drive has 40GB of space and has Guitar Hero 5 on, taking up 4GB. This drive is not visible under windows, just under WBFS manager.

I attach the drive to my wii and run SD/USB Loader 1.5 from within the HB channel.

    I select <USB Mass Storage Device> and press A.

I am told no WBFS partition is found and that I need to create, I thought I had done this in WBFS manager!?!?!?!?

Pressing A again I am told that all of the 4 partitions available (i know there to be only 2 on this drive) "(cannot be formatted)".

The drive is split in two (2*40GB) On is a FAT32 partition and is a logical partition containing odds and sods. The Primary partition is the one formatted to FAT32 and then to WBFS by WBFS manager.

I also have loaded the USB Launcher channel (which appears to be USB Loader 1.0 by Waninkoko). M Player and NeoGamma Backup Loader (came as part of the guide I used to softmod).

Using this as a kind of guide (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...-loader-34586/) I understand the suggestion that a WBFS partition cannot be found means my drive is supported.

This thread appears to relate to USB Loader 1.0 and asks for the installation of cIOS36 rev 9. Is this necessary when I have installed cIOS38 rev 14?

    Are cIOS36 rev 9 & cIOS38 rev 14 for different purposes or does cIOS38 r14 supercede CIOS36 r9???

I've read so much I think I have confused myself.

I hope you can help, thanks in advance to those that do.

    UPDATE:

Just had a play around with USB LOADER GX

    I get the same issues............
    1. No WBFS partition
    2. The ?4? Partitions that are there are not able to be formatted.

Use a more up to date usbloader and a forwarder channel, with a forwarder you can update the program on the sd card easily, the forwarder acts just like a shortcut..

Rev 14 supersedes 9,it is more compatible with newer games and allows the use of usb accessories.

GH5 does not work 'out of the box',you also need to install hermes cios..

Make sure your primary partition is 1st on the drive and try a different usb port, only 1 works for hdd's on rev 14.

i use cfg loader and have not had a problem recognising the drive http://sharebee.com/15f170b3
