Before I start messing about with softmod on my hardmodded wii...Do I need to update?

As the title says, Im on hardmodded wii firmware 3.2e. I'm wanting to play the new mario game, but obviously can only do this using softmod. BUT how do I go about updating my firmware? Do I need to do this or can I stay on 3.2e and use softmod to play the new mario game without having to upgrade to say 4.2?????

Also in order for me to play mario, do I firstly need to install the homebrew channel? Then after ive done that, how do I get the game to play??

Stay on 3.2E m8, install the homebrew channel, then use a tutorial to get the correct files on your Wii, then find a patched version of the new wii mario game, one that has the main .dol replaced.

Thanks mate, I'll go off now and install the homebrew channel. Ive already got the game (I think it's been patched too)

Once ive done that do you think I'll get the game to play on a
2G USB keyring? Or can I even use a SDHC 8gb memory card to play the game?

I take it I then need USB LOADER GX? Can you point me towards a tutorial you mentioned please?

I doubt it will fit on a 2GB mem stick m8, there all 4.3GB, I dont use the USB loader, burn all iso's to disc, call me old fashioned,,
I'm not sure if the Wii will recognise an 8GB card ???
Burn it to disk m8, just look for tutorial without using Zelda hack.

          Ok buddy, homebrew channel installed!

Ok, Ive heard that I cant play the NEW mario game via burning it to disc? Hence me trying to find out how to play this game??

Are you saying that the mario game WILL play with me burning it to disc? If not, whats my next step?

Mines is only 70% d/l, so when it's finished I'll report back m8, probably be later on 2nite.

              OK.
A patched Mario will play by using a disk, using CIOSrev14 but you may also need Hermes CIOS 222.

An unpatched Mario will work on the latest versions of the popular USB loaders, (config loader, u loader etc).

Mario will fit on a 2gb stitck, Its only 600mb I think (cant remember the exact size, but yes, its really that small) when converted to WBFS and transfered to a HDD/Memory Stick.

No joy mate Ive enabled the error 002 in the options of coverfloader, and now get a different error screen which says eject disc etc etc! So at least im not getting the blue error screen anymore, but a different error screen hence I still cant run this game! Any other ideas? Is it because I need a 'patched' version of this game???

Also if I try to get it working using a disc it asks me to update! Should I do this? Im on 3.2e.. I thought this was the best firmware to have???

You shouldnt need a patched version for USB. Try Configurable USB Loader. Works fine for me. Do you have Hermes 222 installed?
