yes 2.1 can be upgraded

hi and thanks to anyone who looked and answered
the easy answer is yes and you don't have to go to version 4.0

there are certain games legit ones of cause that upgrade for you automatically once you load them
wii music - to ver 3.3
wii sports resort - to ver 3.4
links crossbow training - ver 3.0
mario kart - ver 3.0
super smash bros - ver 3.0
wii fit - ver 3.1
these are just a few i found to-day there are more i used the wii fit as being the only one i had
then you can use the zelda method which i prefer
hope this helps anyone else who comes across ver 2.1 in the future
