can i play dvds on a wii

hi i have just had my new black wii chipped with a chip called key drive (i think) just wondering will the wii now play dvds or do i have to put some software on it for it to work . i would try it but the wife wont let me unrapp it as its for christmas

I wouldn't mind knowing this either as I can't do that atm as I have no DVD player but i've got my Popcorn Hour A110 that doesn't play retail DVDs unfortunatly

yes you can buts its shit to be honest

you need is DVDX and Mplayer CE. DVDX is a cIOS that allows your Wii to read DVDs and Mplayer CE uses this for DVD playback.
