updating a softmod

i softmodded my wii using bannerbomb, to get neogamma 7 on it, i just installed cios rev 14 and neogamma 7 and it works fine, but i just tried that on a mates and neogamma 7 freezes, can i just resoftmod it again or is there an easier method.many thanks in advance.

what version system menu has he got ? (eg 3.2, 3.4.....)
