"The disc could not be read." IOS?

I'm getting "The disc could not be read." with two backups; something that I didn't have before. The media is the same as before and the discs are verified against the originals.

I have been tinkering with the homebrew channel recently without really knowing what I'm doing.... and recently upgraded to 4.2E

Is it possible that I have IOS issues that are causing these errors? Is it possible to return my Wii to a more factory original state by deleting IOS? which?

    TIA
    DT

Updated my Wii to 4.2E last night have it hard modded and softmodded m8, no issues, try installing cIOS 14 or cIOS 15.
What game gave you that error?
Wasn't new mario game was it ?

I've now run through the tutorial as far as... "7. In the Homebrew Channel Run WAD Manager." and installed all the cIOS on the list.

I think my Wii is complete and ready to go as far as that part is concerned.

The game in question is "Peppa Pig The Game"... in the old days I would have expected this just to run since the Wii is hard modded. Has there been a change?

I'll load r15 and try a custom load via ULOADER later; I'm not entirely sure if this is likely to work from DVD with my, quite old now, Wii or if I need a USB drive.

Do you get the two discs failing channel/screen ? or does it come up with a black screen and an error and ask's you to reboot ?

Black Screen... dump of various registers etc.

I haven't tried any of that NeoGamma stuff... maybe I will try and work that out next...

Use the latest ULoader m8, posted about page 13 of the easy to follow tut, lot better than the one in the first post, I'll edit it later on today.

Upgraded to uloader 3.3 and associated WADs for IOS202,222,223,forwarder.

Same behaviour. Unable to load from DVD... nasty DSI error and black screen with a dump of various unintelligible stuff.

Have you installed cIOS 15 posted in the first thread of the easy to follow tut m8 ?
Download that, rename it to boot.elf, stick it inside a folder called cIOS15, put that folder in the apps folder of your SD card, load up the home brew channel. look for the cIOS15 folder click on it, then folllow the on screen instructions, only bit you have to change is install from network, dont change anything else, make sure you have a wifi connection also b4 you start.

Are you just trying the same game all the time m8 ?
Have you tried another game you know def works.
I'm at a loss as to what you have done m8, can you play anything back via the proper Wii channel if you have it chipped?

It seems that "error from the loader: 3" might indicate that unauthorised hardware has been detected. Now as mentioned before my Wii does indeed contain a ModChip.

There are very few threads discussing this error but it seems that some people had a WiiKey and on disabling it the issue went away. This would be consistent with what I see.

Not exactly sure what is in my Wii... think it was a D2CKey or something like that...

I guess I need a way to disable it and see if that makes a difference.

Interestingly retail version of New Super Mario Bros works fine; it's just a backup via Uloader that gives problems; which is inexplictable.

Gave up on reading from DVD; My USB Hard Disc enclosure arrived today.

Truca-ed 53 and 70; Used USB Hard Disc.

                        All works fine!

                        Thanks for the help
