I had background launcher 0.3g think it is homebrew put on my wii a while back.I put in wii sports resort brand new out of shop and it is asking me to update, wondering if i should or if it will damage my wii.Please help

Probably it will delete the homebrew channel etc, whatever it updates it to you will have to redo the softmod option,ie, put homebrew channel back on and install different cIOS's etc etc

M8 have a look at the numerous tutorials posted in this section, you must install the homebrew channel to softmod any Wii.
