Wii DriveKey

Hi all,
Its probablly been asked on here already about the drivekey, but.

Am i safe to update my wii via the internet to the latest firmware? I have a drivekey installed in my system and i have read that updating the wii could cause it to brick.

Any info would be great, or does anyone suggest that i try a usb hdd method instead?

If you update to latest revision mate, it will render your drivkey useless in m/c, will still play originals , but its will be like the drivekey is not there!

No update made public for current drivekey owners but they are selling the updated version to counteract the new protection built into New super mario bros!(so they claim)
